all you can do is see to it that a viable Pub canidate gets thrashed early and often

As usual, you get it backwards.

The very fact that Rudy causes so much dissention is proof that he is NOT viable.

This state has been so radicalized that even Rudy will be perceived as an ultraconservative - which he isn’t. This state will go for Hillary.

exactly - thank Pataki for screwing this party up in ny

The Rudy groupies are not getting anything from him. The man has a history of not helping Republicans, especially not REAL REPUBLICANS - the few remaining ones who are left in New York City. About seven years ago, he went on WABC radio to tell Democratic voters how to vote in a primary - and neglected to mention that there was a very capable Republican running in the same race. Typical Rudy.

This news -- that there are Catholic conservatives seriously targeting Rudy for exposure and a just comeuppance --- makes me prouder of my fellow Catholics than anything I've read for a long time.

I am thoroughly ashamed of the enthusiastically liberal "conservatives" are willing to accept Rudy's total betrayal of every decent human principle because "he's strong on the war" --- or he talks strong, and that, ultimately, is all that really matters to them. You don't have to respect God or life if you talk real big while refusing, in practice, to defend the border, the babies, or the basics of your own professed religion.

We may be witnessing a grand national reply to Zippy's question: "If you thought you could win a war by aborting a baby, would you do it?" The answer --- by some ---appears to be "Hell yes." That, friends, is go-to-hell consequentialism in chemical purity.

If our choice is between cross-dressing, homosexual coddling, babykilling Rudy and Mrs. Arkansas Antichrist then conservatives and America have lost in any event. Fortunately, Ms. AA has a way to go to even be nominated, is not ten feet tall and does not come in bazillions, and the GOP has candidates who, unlike Rudy, are social conservatives practicing Western Civilization, and who, unlike paleoPaulie, offer a manly foreign policy and patriotism. We got along without those two before we met them and we will continue to get along without them now.

As to the Catholic issue, Rudy is no more Catholic than Ted the Swimmer, John the Traitor, Nancy Facelift. Demands that these phonies not receive the Holy Eucharist of the Roman Catholic Church are not partisan Republican demands but legitimate Catholic demands. Rudy would do himself a political favor by formally declaring his apostasy from the Church and conducting himself accordingly. Call it an honesty thing. This issue is not going away for him any more than it will for the Demonratic pro-abort phonies posing as Catholics.

Since there is no religious test for office at law, Rudy can adopt witchcraft (Wicca) if he likes. What he cannot do without Catholic voter repercussions (among the very Catholics most likely to vote Republican for a social conservative nominee) is pose as Catholic, commit the sacrilege of receiving the Eucharist while pro-abort (a self-excommunicating offense, latae sententiae as Canon Law terms it) and expecting actual Catholics to blindly accept him as a candidate just because we should all become hysterical in fear of HILLARY!!!!

Libertoonians can cast their votes as they please according to their own standards. So can Catholics and we shall.

Some of us are old enough to remember when the Nelson Rockefeller/William Scranton/John Vliet Lindsay type of leftist "Republican" (nowadays Muffy and Skipper down at the polo club) used to play this song incessantly that only Northeastern sellouts "could win." Years after they were peddling that baseless drivel, Ronaldus Maximus showed how utterly pathetic and wrong the liberal RINO whine truly is and ha always been, taking 40 states in 1980 and 49 in 1984.

Those of you who are so in love with his Rudyship simply believe that social issues just are not very important or you may actually disagree with the Republican social conservative base. "If oooooonly those religious nuts would shut up about the babies, the marriages, the guns, the war, and the interests of rank and file Americans, boy, could the libertoonians pad those portfolios and spend their spare time in, ummmm, congress with birds beasts, same sex types, twelvesomes, covens or space aliens. If only, if only....." Can you say: "Curses, foiled again!!!! And again! And again!....."

AND, you practice your religion (if any) and we Catholics will practice ours. It is right there in the First Amendment.

It is a sad commentary on your outlook, Cherry, that you’ve already conceded that 1) The Hildebeeste will be nominated and that 2) she will vanquish the (R) nominee unless it be Ruuuuuuuddddeeee!!!

Evidently you don’t read too much—the Hildebeeste is NOT doing well in Iowa, e.g.; and Ruuuuudeeeee!’s act simply does not play well between the Coasts.

For that matter, RR himself thought Rudy was “crazy.” See his diary when he was in office.

But that’s OK. Perhaps you can convince Nelson Rockefeller to arise and lead the Party to salvation. He will do just as well as Ruuuudeee! and have more worthwhile experiences to share with the electorate, I’m sure.

I remember Nelson Rockefeller. My mother always remarked about how well-dressed he was.
