Wolfowitz and Gal Pal Split Up
New York Post ^ | May 23, 2007 | Richard Johnson

Posted on 05/23/2007 9:58:06 AM PDT by mngran

PAUL Wolfowitz has really had a bad couple of weeks. He not only lost his job, he lost his girlfriend, too.

Wolfowitz, one of the architects of the Iraq war, was pushed out as president of the World Bank over a controversial pay and promotion package he arranged for his brunette girlfriend, Shaha Ali Riza. Sources say Riza, a brilliant feminist with a promising diplomatic career, was upset by all the publicity and the implication that she was getting ahead with the help of a powerful man. "She was furious about the embarrassment," said one source.

Last week, Wolfowitz bowed to mounting pressure over the cronyism scandal, agreeing to step down June 30. The announcement came nine months after Page Six first revealed how he'd ruffled the feathers of World Bank employees by dating, and then promoting, the Tunisian divorcée, who managed the bank's External Relations and Outreach for the Middle East and North Africa Region.

After Wolfowitz joined the World Bank, Ali Riza was first transferred to a joint World Bank/U.S. Agency for International Development multinational investment project, and then to work on the bank's South American interests.

"Apparently she never asked for a promotion and liked her old job," our source said.

EXCUSE ME FOLKS - have you heard the REAL story about Mr. Wolfowitz - or just what the friendly MSM is telling you?

When his name was proposed for the World Bank, Mr. Wolfowitz pointed out to the Board of Directors that his girlfriend was an employee of the agency. SHE WORKED THERE -BEFORE- HE CAME ABOARD!

He pointed this out to the Board and said he should be recused from any personnel decisions involving the woman. She had just received a promotion and a raise, all it required was the signature of the President - Mr. W. He TRIED to recuse himself - the Board said OK, it’s not fair to deprive her of her raise, so let’s transfer her to a related agency not under Mr. W’s direct supervision. This was done - in accordance with the wishes of the Board.

THEN the Board charged Mr. Wolfowitz with misusing his position. Don’t you smell a setup here?

They just didn’t want the ‘neocon’ poking around their little fiefdom.

Far too many Freepers are falling for the media’s BS. This event demonstrates MY point concisely!

Well, at least nobody thinks she's getting by on her looks.

>Wolfie lost his job, and the woman

But presumably
once or twice the two had sex.
They'll always have that ...

When the deep purple falls
Down sleepy garden walls
And the stars start to sparkle in the sky
In the mist of memory
You come drifting back to me
Breathing my name in a sigh...

Brunette girlfriend?

That was the nicest thing they could say about her appearance.

It was bound to happen. She was obviously using him. And he was a dope.

‘This event demonstrates MY point concisely!’

Funny, I feel the same way. And as I stated, nothing good ever comes from banging an employee.

You might note Wolfowitz is out of a job, and his girlfriend has now dumped him.

I’d say its conclusively shown I was correct last week.

Not exactly a ‘looker’ is she? He lost his job over that, and then got dumped?

Man, thats cold.

Sources say Riza, a brilliant feminist with a promising diplomatic career, was upset by all the publicity and the implication that she was getting ahead with the help of a powerful man.

Apparently she was brilliant enough to put the "feminist" part on the sidelines at just the right time to advance her career the good old-fashioned way.

NOTE TO SELF: Dating women who self-identify as "feminists" doesn't make you liberated yourself, it just makes for another chump being used by somebody who doesn't respect you anyway.

Here is the most relevant take on Mr. Wolfowitz’ arrival and departure from the World Bank that I’ve read:

I’ve seen it turn out bad MANY times and good only ONCE.

Not a good track record for dating fellow employees.

I didn’t know Wolf’s GF worked there already. Like a poster said, reading the facts, it does look like a setup.

Nevertheless, he should have known he was a lightning rod and taken better precautions although it sounds like he did try.

Of course it was a ‘set up’. The fact Wolfowitz didn’t see it coming isn’t a ‘positive’ its a huge Negative.

Yep, he should have ‘known better’ but that brings us back around to the primary reason you shouldn’t bang an employee...the primary reason is sex clouds your professional judgement.

He knew better, went ahead anyway, and now he doesn’t have the job, nor the GF.

Thats the bottom line, and its another display of why you don’t bang employees.

I think Wolfie got a bum rap. The story goes way back to when he joined the bank and she worked for it. Conflict of interest forced her to be re-assigned for a stay at the state department. Her salary was to be raised on her return to the world bank (presumably after Wolfie's tenure was over)

"As I noted last week, nothing good comes from banging an employee."

Forty years ago when I had my first supervisory job, my old Oklahoma boss told me: "Don't get your meat and potatos at the same place."

He was correct.
