Official EMAIL from Arizona Republican Party ^ | 23 May 2007 | Arizona Republican Party

CHAIRMAN PULLEN TO APPEAR ON HARDBALL WITH CHRIS MATTHEWS AND SPECIAL REPORT WITH BRIT HUME TODAY

Tune into MSNBC today at 2:00PM local [Arizona] time and catch Chairman Pullen talk about the Senate's immigration bill with Chris Matthews. The show repeats at 4:00PM and 12:00AM. Then check out Special Report with Brit Hume on Fox News at 3:00PM and see another segment with Chairman Pullen on immigration reform.

TOPICS: Extended News; News/Current Events; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: aliens; amnesty; illegalimmigration; immigrantlist; invasion; mmp
Randy Pullen has done something that is unprecedented. He has come out AGAINST the President, the two Republican Senators from his state, and the Chairman of the Republican National Committee. He is totally opposed to any form of amnesty for illegal aliens and is working to activate the entire Republican Party in Arizona against the current legislation.

Republicans in other states need to use Pullen as an example to pressure their own Republican Party leaders into acting against the amnesty plan.

How did he get elected party chairman with so many in AZ opposed to him?

Pullen, a staunch conservative and central organizer of the successful Proposition 200 initiative, was elected as National Committeeman by 3 votes in 2004. It was a very close and contentious election and the Rockefeller RINO wing of the party pulled out the stops to try to keep that position in their hands. Last year, after chairman Matt Salmon said he was stepping down, Pullen was elected again by a few votes with the Rockefeller RINO wing opposing him. But, now that we’ve got a conservative in there who isn’t afraid to rock the boat a bit, conservative Republicans in Arizona now have something to be hopeful about.

What are your local news sources saying about McCain lately? Or is he their media darling too? They’re not as ‘hateful’ as you and I though...lol

Did you see on Brit Hume today that the head of the RNC called Pullen and told him to keep his mouth shut. I think a good piece of our mind to the RNC is in order.

I sent them a piece of my mind in the form of a note on the money request they sent me. I used their postage paid envelope to add insult to injury. I’m tired of them supporting RINOS while throwing conservatives under the bus and I am 100% against AMNESTY no matter what they call it!

Well, the way I see it. The head of the RNC by telling Pullen to STFU on this issue, they pretty much are telling their base to STFU.

Was that Mr. Duncan of KY or Mr. Martinez? People in FL must be embarrassed by their poor choice of public officials.

I'm waiting for the replay to make sure.

In the news here in AZ this was reported:

Emblematic of recent days' events, the state GOP reported that more than two dozen Republicans have come to Phoenix headquarters and changed party registration, some literally throwing their registration cards in disgust. "It's bad," state GOP spokesman Brett Mecum said of the party rancor. "We have people who are quitting the party left and right over this legislation."

Absolutely, the head of the RNC and my Senator are one and the same: Mel Martinez.

He’s going around trying to pull at our heartstrings about how he is an immigrant and look how far he’s gone....boo freaking hoo! Cubans are escaping tyranny, Mexicans are escaping poor economic conditions—big difference!

I went to a Republican Club luncheon on Tuesday. There was a lot of support for Kyl there, but not for the bill. Pete Davis said there was more than one bill, and handed out info.

I’ve always liked Kyl and would like to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, I didn’t appreciate his office sending out pre-recorded calls telling me to call Randy Pullen and object to him expressing his opinion.

The last piece of mail I got from the RNC looking for money went back in the SASE with this note - "Come to your senses about illegal immigration and then come back looking for money" - and no check. I'm not sure how many they need to see before they get the message.

I hope the people who open those envelopes speak English.

Yes, we should keep on calling also the RNC. When I called their number the other day, the person who answered was pleasant and agreed with what I said - or pretended to.

That's the first time I've heard that Kyl had done that. Grrrr...

That dirty trickster Nathan Sproul had a "conference call" yesterday for GOP leaders. He bad mouthed Pullen in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Times, on Fox News Channel, and he did so in the conference call. He and Kyl are saying that Pullen is attacking Senator Kyl. When, in fact, Pullen HAS NOT attacked Kyl, just the amnesty scheme.

The state GOP had a conference call this morning and for some stupid reason they invited Sproul. I don't now what they worked out. But if Sproul and Kyl want to talk about "party unity", then they need to stop lying about what Pullen said and Sproul himself needs to stop trying to undermine Pullen.

Anyone who doesn't know that Sproul is making a huge deal out of every tiny thing that Pullen is doing just to undermine him is naive. Sproul keeps making a big deal out of the letter that Pullen showed that had the hand-drawn middle finger - like that's anything to attack Pullen over. It is obvious that Sproul wants to undermine Pullen in order to clear the way for some Sproul-supported RINO to take the National Committeeman slot as well as the Chairman slot in a few years. Sproul is a snake and he's playing politics with this issue while Pullen is trying to represent the rank and file Republicans in opposing this amnesty scheme.

Who paid for those calls? Was there a statement anywhere in the call as to who paid for the calls to be made? I'll bet you they were paid for by Sproul or someone associated with him.

Here's a transcript of the anonymous robocalls:

"Hi!"

"If you're a Republican like me, you know how fortunate we are to have Sen. Jon Kyl fighting for us in Washington. That's why I can't believe that Arizona Republican Party Chairman, Randy Pullen, is attacking Jon Kyl.

"Sen. Kyl is working hard to solve the crisis on our border and stop illegal immigration."

"But Randy Pullen is using the resources of the Arizona Republican Party to attack him."

"Pullen even went on national television yesterday to speak against Sen. Kyl's efforts. That's not what the Republican Chairman should be doing."

"I hope that you'll join me in calling Randy Pullen and tell him to stop the attacks on Sen. Kyl, a true conservative fighting for Arizona. Call Randy Pullen at (602) 957-7770 and tell him that you support Senator Kyl."

This robocall is pure crap. Pullen NEVER attacked Kyl. Pullen only stated principled opposition to the amnesty scheme being discussed in the Senate and asked Republicans to call the Senate to express their opinions.

The good folks at Sonoran Alliance are looking into who may have paid for the calls and how they got the lists they used. If its Sproul (and I'm sure that it is) we're going to hang it around his neck like a millstone.

Sproul just admitted, on the Sonoran Alliance blog, that he is the one who paid for the automated calls. What a scumbag. He's done more to cause a rift in the party in Arizona than anyone else that I know of in a very long time.
