Immigration Bill Could Outlaw Gun Shops
Gun Owners of America ^ | May 23, 2007 | Gun Owners of America

Posted on 05/23/2007 7:26:52 PM PDT by Revtwo

Senator Ted Kennedy and the anti-gun zealots who wrote the bill just couldn't resist the temptation to get their hands on our guns. They have included language that GOA has been able to defeat in the past.

When Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) introduced these anti-gun provisions in 1998, the GOA grassroots were able to convince seven senator cosponsors to pull their names from Hatch's bill.

The current language in the amnesty bill is only slightly different from Hatch's original language almost 10 years ago, but it would essentially do the same thing -- threaten every gun store in America.

In Section 205, for example, all it takes for the employees of a gun shop (of five or more persons) to become a "criminal gang" is:

* For them to commit two or more violations of ANY federal felony gun offense -- which includes virtually all gun offenses, including paperwork violations; and

* For the anti-gunners to find that violating gun laws was a "primary purpose" of the group.

So let's say your local gun store sells two or three firearms to Mayor Bloomberg's thuggish agents under New York City's extraterritorial "sting" operations. Your gun shop is now a "criminal gang."

This provision could even be used against a family of five who drives by two schools on the way to a movie with a gun in the glove compartment. Certainly under a Hillary administration, it would not be surprising to see them treat this infraction as a "felony" under the weird language of Gun Free School Zones Act. Thus, you and your family would become a "criminal gang."

Yet bush loves it.

Bush is no friend of gun owners and never has been.

I’m surprised its not illegal to hire someone at a gun shop with a conviction for a Federal felony. But then if they are gonna call a paperwork violation a felony the world is nuts anyway.

A friend once observed that Teddy killed more people with his car than he did with his guns.

I presume you’ve heard what his yes-man AG wants to be able to do, right?

Do tell...

“Do tell...”

Remove 2nd Amendment rights from anyone he considers a “terrorist”.

Now, define “susepected terrorist”.

““Conservative”? Notice I didn’t guess “Republican”.”

Entirely possible.

It’s not like the PATRIOT Act is only used on Muslim terrorists. From what I understand, that’s a relatively rare application.

“I wasn’t an Ashcroft fan, either. :( But this guy looks even worse.”

Ashcroft explicitly stated he viewed the 2nd Amendment as a bulwark against tyranny.

This AG wants to be the tyranny.

Give it a rest, just because they put out a notice/alert about something that could be used/twisted against gun owners/shops doesn’t mean that they are looking for money. Would you have posted the same message if it was the NRA that put this out?

No, cause the NRA is a credible organization that doesn`t rely on scare tactics.

Ahhh...I see, so you are being bigoted against GOA just because they scrutinize any bills/laws that could be applied against gun owners/dealers. Do the laws get applied against gun owners/dealers as they state? Not always, but then we don’t have another Clinton/Reno (or worse) type of administration. I would rather hear how some bill/law could be used/applied against us in a worst case scenario than to not hear about it and have it applied against us.

With each passing day, I want a hand gun more and more. I have no need for one; I’m quite proficient with my .22 and shotgun and scoped rifle.

But the more they push to ban things, the more I want to have one.

Kind of like all the Smoking Bans. I don’t smoke, but it’s NOT about smoking in the first place. It’s about a small minority of Nannies telling the REST of us what to do and how to live.

P.S. When will Kennedy stroke out? Good lord, the man’s liver must be pickled by now, and he’s killed off nearly all of his brain cells! Why do these POSs hang on for-e-v-e-r? Grrr! I’ll even take the week of liberal self-flagellation his funeral will bring!

Oh please, please, PLEASE turn millions of gun owners, gun shop owners and families into felons. Please turn those ex soldiers, ex cops, heavy equipment operators, pilots and patriots into criminals.

The sooner you do this, the sooner the veil will drop from their eyes and the sooner they can get about the business of putting you polidiots out of business.

So yes Teddy, Nancy, Harry and George, lets get this party underway, shall we?
