I’ve always liked him - he played good roles in “Of Mice and Men”, “The Stand”, and especially the bad guy in Mel Gibson’s “Ransom”.

Some Freepers may want to go to the Lt Dan Band website and sign up for ping messages. I get them from time to time to tell me where the Lt Dan Band will be playing next. Lt Dan may be coming to a gig near you soon...

Lt. Dan: "I had a DESTINY! I was Lt. Dan Taylor!"

Forrest: "You STILL - Lt. Dan."

Awesome movie. Awesome human being, that Mr. Sinise!

I seem to remember him acting in a role regarding George Wallace and being impressed. Could somebody confirm whether Sinise played George Wallace. Since I just read he is from Illinois (above) it was even more impressive as he did the accent just about right. I think it was a made for TV movie which means it will never pop up again except on Lifetime.

Thank God for an actor/celebrity who is a NORMAL decent person.

(if he has ever screwed up please don’t make a big deal out of me praising him for supporting our military)

I like Sinise. I thought his prettying up with plastic surgery a few years back robbed his face of the character it had previously though. Of course, nose and ear cartilage does continue to grow over a lifetime so he might have been smart to do a small reduction.

I keep thinking he'll star in a TV show. Maybe he'll go into politics. He is a likable sort.

He went home to be angry and miserable and once again was foiled by Forrest. Go Lt. Dan!

At the end of the movie, when Lt. Dan walks at Forrest's wedding and Forrest says to him: "You got new legs!" ... that gets me every time.

Great movie.

Anyone in the DC area interested in the National Memorial Day Parade should know that Gary Sinise is once again going to be the Grand Marshall (2nd year in a row).

I’m hoping it’s not going to be too hot and humid to take my 1 year old down to it.

He directed that movie too.

He also directed (but didn't star in) a movie called "Miles From Home" (1988) that's worth checking out.

Yep--in 1997. It was a made for cable (TNT) film. Directed by John Frankenheimer.

Before that, he played Truman in a 1995 HBO movie.
