I was puzzled to see this in the list of council members as what interest do they have in open borders?
SEIU Florida Healthcare Union
The only thing I can think of is there are “ILLEGAL” healthcare workers taking care of us. Yikes! Not sure that that is a very comforting thought.
The presence of a former Soros employee - even as CEO - doesn't mean that Soros is funding this activity or the pro-illegal "advocate" alliance.
The Atlantic Philanthropies - which *is* funding it and them - was created by the founder of Duty Free Shopper Group (aka DFS) and from what I can tell entirely funded by him.
Barring solid proof and FACTS, it's unwise to promote any Soros connection.
So is Rush being influenced the White House? Keep the peons in check, don’t encourage them to speak up against the amnesty/immigration issue?
“The United Methodist Church is in on this”?
I was in a UMC Church for a Confirmation a few months ago. The only young people were the the boy’s parents and the rest of the family. All of the regular members in attendence looked well over retirement age. Going as a habit I guess. As Hank Jr. says: “Old habits are hard to break”.
“This campaign is unprecedented in the pro-immigration community”
That’s right...and that’s us...
Dont forget WE are the pro-immigration community ...
THEY are the pro-illegal alien community...
WE are the pro-America community...
THEY are the anti-America community...
THEY are also the Anti-Immigration community...
I’m an immigrant and they are working against me and everything I stand for.....entering America the right way...
Good question. I am also wondering how honest the Senators are regarding all the calls.
“comprehensive immigration reform”
This has NOTHING to do with immigration and everything to do with AMNESTY for criminals.....also known as illegal aliens...
“Are we sure that calls through that number arent automatically being counted as pro?”
All they would have to say is “we got this number calls” and not explain that most of the calls did not agree with them?
“The number originally uncovered on FR was SPANISH ONLY!, Malkin found the english number. This is being paid for by PRO-AMNESTY groups funded by soros, which is why they have a spanish only number.”
But remember Snerdley, they dont want to learn English...
(Actually this could be taken as RACIST...Only Spanish? as in only Mexican illegal aliens? We would be called RACIST...)
I tried KBH - won’t take messages.
Heard a few minutes of Michael Medved on the radio last night and it appears he is all for the amnesty bill. I’ll have to check his web site to be sure.
don’t be so down. This is why we need to get Fred Thompson in the WH.
To know where he thinks he is coming from, and to know if I heard right.
The presence of a former Soros employee - even as CEO - doesn't mean that Soros is funding this activity or the pro-illegal "advocate" alliancIt's not the only connection. ACORN was also a Soros backed crime group that was trying to steal elections by padding voter roles with fake registrations to send in via fraudulent absentee votes.
besides, Soros IS mentioned in the article, and his name draws the IRE of conservatives all over the place, so it helps publicize this. For that reason alone I'll continue to make the connection. I may not have satisfied SOME people of the connection, but I have little benifit-of-the-doubt left for that scumbag.
Exactly my point. It's like screaming "Haliburton, Big Oil, Carlyle Group" over at Daily Kos or at DU.
OK, I can see that you're intent on doing this despite the complete absence of any documented linkage between the "Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform" and The Atlantic Philanthropies (which entirely funded CCIR if you read the background material) and Soros. Soros has zero financial connection with this group, unless you can prove otherwise with facts.
My point is only that you should stick with the facts. If you can't do so you should put a disclaimer on your posts.
LOL! Called the Spanish number and got directed to Senator Patsy Murray’s number — and her voicemail inbox is full.
No they aren't, it's all automated.
Maria CantDoWell's voicemail inbox is also full.
Plus, I wanted to bump the thread.
Operators are standing by... No they aren't, it's all automated. Maria CantDoWell's voicemail inbox is also full.duh, it's a holiday weekend. On work days, you usually get a liver staffer. I did a dozen times.
I've been meaning to ask you, is your first name Bo or Beau? It's a pseudoname, so no.
I know Bush is repaying his big business donors.
I know Democrats see total control of the trifecta in D.C.
What I don't know is how anyone we've elected can accept that the next terror attack on CONUS will be on their hands.
Oh, it's that "soul" thing. . . .
kewl new thread, bttt and a ping on my way out.
The House needs to investigate how non-constituents can have constituent rights while real Americans cannot get through on the regular phone lines. Staff are answering calls from illegals and from American citizens.
They don't know where people are calling from! That's what Mel Martinez' office said. MM asks for zip codes but most Senators do not ask for zip codes. (but, zip codes can be faked over the phone if they are requested by the Senate staff).
This is a TOLL FREE INVASION.
After pathway, look for the fence to be struck down, superhighway begun www.spp.gov and for a borderless America. This treaty was crafted between Mexico and the U.S. without the approval of Congress.
This is one of the most serious issues of our time and at Free Republic.
Lurkers, call, call, call. Media, stop covering the humpback whales and Rosie O' Donnell and COVER THIS.
I left one message and the had a full voice mailbox.
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
I miss Ed Gillespie as RNC chair.
he was only one of us to get our votes. it was a ruse and posting about w isn’t even worth using caps.
What a waste. This decision is to be made by those footing the bill (taxpayers), not anyone with access to a phone and fingers to dial.
bush is a Methodist. Maybe they’re sticking with their guy.
The legal immigrant health care workers are fine but they went through the system.
I won't even go to Taco Bell any more over this hijacking of our national sovereignty.
Thanks for the ping bump.
The House needs to be contacted about these calls to the Senate. They are going to be next to receive non-constituent calls. It is a ruse. They are pretending to be Americans. We ARE AMERICANS!
Who owns Telemundo TV? Anyone know?
This LIVE link goes directly to the Senators FOR WHATEVER AREA CODE you are calling from.
I tried it from Louisville using the local 502 area code number = got to a LIVE staff rep at Kentucky’s Senator’s (McConnell) office one the FIRST RING.
I tried it from Louisville using my 770 area code cell phone number = got to a LIVE staff rep at GA’s Senator’s Isakson office on the FIRST RING pushing 1, then 2 at the Spanish recording. No recording, no wait, no dial tone, no recorder or voice mail.
I tried it from Louisville using my 770 area code cell phone number = got to a LIVE staff rep at GA’s Senator’s Chambliss office on the FIRST RING (that’s when you push 1, then 1.) Same thing: No recording, no wait, no dial tone, no recorder or voice mail. A LIVE OPERATOR ANSWERS THE MEXICANS ON A TOLL-FREE LINE.
An overloaded voice mail box answers the Americans using (trying to use!) the taxpayer’s (for-pay) commercial number.
The ruling elite have sold our country and voting only legitimatizes political corruption.
What do we do now?
"It looks like Slim plans to roll over his equity as part of the buyout, but wants to get in at the pre-sale price," said one analyst. Slim purchased 8.5 million Univision shares between March 9 and March 20 for an average price of $33.83 a share, according to a regulatory filing yesterday. The family now controls about 2.8 percent of Univision's outstanding shares through its real estate company, Inmobiliaria Carso.
Carlos Slim's son sits on the board of Mexican company Grupo Televisa SA, which owns nearly 11 percent of Univision and has a lucrative broadcasting agreement with Univision. Grupo Televisa said in a filing yesterday that it is evaluating "alternatives" with respect to Univision and specifically said that it is not acting in partnership with the Slim family.
Several private equity firms and other investment groups are trying to structure a deal that allows Televisa to acquire Univision without regulatory problems, sources said. Foreign companies can own only 25 percent of U.S.-based broadcasters, and Televisa together with the Cisneros family, which controls Venezuela's biggest broadcaster, Venevision, own nearly that much of Univision.
SLIM'S PICKIN' GIANT BIG BET ON UNIVISION By ZACHERY KOUWE
NY POST April, 29, 2006 http://www.nypost.com/photos/bizlead04292006.jpg
Carlos Slim Helu, world's third richest man, and father of Mexican telecom honcho Carlos Slim Jr. Photo: AP April 29, 2006 -- Mexican telecom honcho Carlos Slim Jr. - son of the world's third richest man - has made a bet on Hispanic broadcasting giant Univision that could quickly turn into a $60 million windfall. Investors and others have been scratching their heads since Slim, 38, disclosed about a week ago that he had scooped up 8.5 million shares of Univision for about $33.83 a share, or $288 million.
On Thursday, the pension fund of Mexican phone giant and Slim family company Telefonos de Mexico SA, or Telmex, disclosed that it purchased 3 million shares of Univision for about $33.88 a share, or $102 million. The Slim family, whose fortune is estimated to be $30 billion, is jumping into a dynamic situation with Univision, as American media giants look for a foothold in the fast-growing Spanish-language broadcasting business. Univision stock closed yesterday at $35.71 - giving Slim's investments a $21 million paper profit already. "Slim either believes there will be a bidding war for Univision that will push up the stock price or he wants to own part of the company for the long term and wants to get in on the cheap," said one analyst.
Univision's board is hoping to get as much as $41 a share for the company, which would value it at roughly $14 billion including debt, according to sources close to the process. If it goes for that much, Slim would pocket about $60 million in profit and Telmex's pension fund would bank another $21 million or so. Big wagers are nothing new to the Slim family. Slim's father, Carlos Slim Helu, made nearly $1 billion buying the debt of bankrupt WorldCom, which was bought by Verizon after a prolonged bidding war with rival Qwest Communications last year. Slim's bet on Univision has infuriated Mexican broadcaster Grupo Televisa SA, according to sources.
Slim is a member of Televisa's board of directors, which decided last week to pursue a takeover of Univision along with several private equity firms. Televisa yesterday said that Slim has removed himself from any discussions involving a takeover of Univision. "He did not participate because of that conflict of interest in any further discussions or decisions," Televisa's Executive Vice-President Alfonso de Angoitia said in a conference call. Televisa has been in discussions with a group of private equity firms including Bain Capital, Providence Equity Partners, and Madison Dearborn Partners about potentially acquiring Univision in a deal that would give Televisa just under 25 percent of the Hispanic television giant. email@example.com
There is SPANISH line???? Good grief.
Mailbox is full! NOt to worry, I’ll be calling back on Tuesday!
That's true, and I'll never forgive his weasel brother for not standing up to those punks in Clearwater and rescuing Terri.
Talk about pathetic.
WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!
Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them.
I am not telling anyone what to do, but I refuse to tithe to the Church. My parish openly brags on how they shelter undocumented workers. There are other forms of tithing that I know go to making a difference.
You hear some gibberish, a hispanic sounds woman tells you “support immigration reform now” ... and then it connects to your senator’s office, which you can talk directly to.
