The clintons would like nothing better. In fact, I can imagine them actually strategizing to figure out how to bait the administration into doing just that.
Gonzales is tainted and irrelevant, thanks to democrats' efforts and Gonzales's own weak ineffectiveness. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole outrage about the firings "scandal" wasn't a deliberate pre-emptive strike to defang him for the upcoming Hillary scandals they knew would come down the pike.
If Gonzales went after Hillary now, it would be sheer gift. Any facts of the case would be drowned out by howls of indignation about retribution and vindictive politics. Moreover, we've seen how the clintons leverage the protocol of official investigations. The issue goes off-limits for discussion by the AG, but the clinton minions get to run around spewing any lie or spin they choose without challenge.
The worst approach, imho, would be to let this go to offical investigation before it's gone into the broad public consciousness. My thought would be to focus on Gupta's slimy practice of targeting vulnerable seniors without making the Hillary connection. Thoroughly expose him first. Hammer away at each despicable act. Get the Alzheimer's advocates on a charge. Not against Hillary, but Gupta. Make him the poster child whose name and face is on everyone's lips. Then draw the connections.
