BERGER'S ETERNAL SECRET
May 27, 2007 -- It now looks like the American people will never learn how - and why - Bill Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy "Sticky Fingers" Berger, stole and destroyed classified documents from the National Archives.
That's because Berger - in a significant, but little-noticed, move - has short-circuited the last investigation into his sordid little burglary. As Byron York reports at National Review Online, Berger last week voluntarily surrendered his law license. Now, that's hardly as serious a step as it sounds, since - as Berger freely admitted - "I have not [practiced law] for 15 years and do not envision returning to the profession."
What it does, however, is prematurely end an investigation by the District of Columbia Bar Association into Berger's confessed thievery. It also means that details of the probe, which would have been made public, now remain sealed.
So much for the public's right to know.
(snip)
As York notes, a report from the Bar Association says that Berger "acknowledges that the material facts on which the allegations of misconduct are predicated are true" - and that he "could not successfully defend against them."
But just what they are, we'll never know. Score one for Mr. Happy Pants.

so, if Libby gives up his whatever, he wont go to jail ?
The Dept of Justice cronies left over from the Clinton Administration (and there are A LOT of them) worked overtime to make sure Sandy Burgler wasn't pursued.

By surrendering his law license, Berger effectively shuts down the bar investigation which would have brought facts to light.
--a weak-kneed Bush AG didn't stop this--
Makes you get close to puking, doesn’t it?
It makes any right thinking American want to puke. Over at DU they are patting each other on the back saying how smart Berger is. Once again the Clintons are given a free pass.
I know it’d be just an assumption, but wouldn’t an inventory check reveal everything that was missing on the dates he was there? Thus, bringing out the truth of this?
Months ago, a commenter on Tom Maguire’s blog “Just One Minute” had posted a recommended sentence for Libby if convicted— that Libby would do a community service by kicking Sandy Berger in the pants for 100 hours.
America....what a great country....
paris hilton will do time for driving drunk....
sandy burgler will do NO time for treason!!!!
Yep, they wanted to bury some evidence. But that just proves how stupid they are to let it get in the archives in the first place.

"We, Democrats, laud Hillary for her (stolen) remarkably powerful FBI files,
and praise the foresight of Hillary-the-Powerful and the weakness of Alberto-the-fop."
This guy would have no problem explaining why he took a crap on your living room carpet...
I could never understand why Web Hubbel rolled over for the Clintons. Sandy Berger seems to have that same sick loyalty to them and not to his country. Gonzalez is not up to the task of AG.
The fact that this administration is covering up the criminal activities of the previous one's is as disturbing as the theft itself.
It wouldn't surprise me to learn that Berger was allowed to plead guilty to a minor offense without being officially questioned and required to sign a sworn statement that could be used against him in any future action.
The Bush coverup of Clinton crimes is worse than that.
The stolen FBI files effect a thousand people.
These felonies are no problem apparently to those in power.
The stolen Code Level Archive files effect all US citizens
in the future because the ‘past’ was stolen .. and erased.
Millions of people hurt but again, no problem for
those in power to these felonies and treason, either.
In both cases, like the failure to secure the borders,
there is an absence of care and then an absence of
accountability.
Thanks for the info.
....substiture Balls for pants and I’m with ya’
"Rule of Law" in the Bush Justice Department:
Stealing/Destroying top secret documents: 100 hrs. community service
Shooting a drug smuggler in the ass: 10 years in prison
Now if Berger had stolen documents from the MEXICAN Archives then he would be in real trouble.
Sure would like to see where those phone calls were from/to while he was viewing documents...
Yes, one of the great questions is why the DOJ was so eager to let Berger off and close the books on this incident.
Traitors all.
Can you imagine the blow-up in the media if Berger was a Republican? It’d be 24/7 news with updates every hour. The NY Times would be demanding a special prosecutor; the DNC would be too. The talking heads at the networks would be clucking away.
With Berger, NOTHING! I even heard Diane Rehm on NPR say that Berger was a well known disorganized person. His disorganization caused him to steal secrets!
That’s liberals for you.
What does it take to remove Berger's influence from official Washington? This guy's a slippery snake. Americans are uncomfortable with Berger slithering around official Washington, making sure trillions of US dollars are flowing into Mideast sinkholes.
It is an outrage that Berger stole and destroyed classified documents from the National Archives. Sure Berger gave up his law license to save his sorry backside-----Berger's making money hand-over-fist, profiting off the Iraq war. Read on---the "spin" on this profiteering venture is laughable.
ADDENDUM
Berger's Firm to Aid Oil Interests in Iraq
By Judy Sarasohn / Washington Post
Thursday, September 16, 2004; Page A29
Stonebridge International, the "global strategy firm" founded by Clinton administration national security adviser Samuel R. "Sandy" Berger, has taken on an interesting client, Gulfsands Petroleum Ltd., a private Houston-based oil and gas company.
Gulfsands, along with its larger partner Devon Energy Corp. of Oklahoma City, has oil and gas exploration and development interests in Syria.
And now Gulfsands is looking to Iraq.
"Stonebridge is assisting Gulfsands in organizing meetings in Washington with administration officials to discuss the company's business interests in Iraq and U.S. policy toward Syria," Stonebridge Vice Chairman H.P. Goldfield said in an e-mail response to written questions.
The lobby registration was filed with Congress by Goldfield and colleague Joy Drucker.
Goldfield, who served in senior jobs in the Reagan administration, said Gulfsands "is conducting business development activities in Iraq" but "is not pursuing any U.S. funded contracts in Iraq."
Its discussions with the government of Iraq are confidential for now, Goldfield said. "Our proposed energy project will be privately funded and will have significant economic and environmental benefits to the people of Iraq.
The project would create thousands of jobs for Iraqi citizens and would introduce more environmentally beneficial technologies into Iraq's development of its oil and gas sector," Goldfield said. Berger is not involved with the work for Gulfsands, Goldfield said.
Get a link for that?
First time I have heard that terminology
Again, all roads lead to the money. He doesn't need a law license, when he rakes in money from other sources. Scumbags, all of these people. He should have been shot by a firing squad.
Amen.
Sadly, no. Libby’s case was adjudicated in a court of law. The Bar investigation, I would think, is more like an ethics investigation. Once Berger gives up his law license the case against him is moot. No reason to proceed since all the DC Bar could do is take his license.

They obviously have something on the Bush family.
Making calls I can understand if he left the room and the documents, but if he was reviewing materials in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facitity (where such docs are usually opened), then he should not have had a phone with him to receive calls. Something just doesn't ring true.
What seems to escape everyone is that it was a letter prepared by Bill Clinton on April 12, 2002 and received at Archives that authorized Berger to act as an agent on his behalf in review of documents dealing with Al Qaeda and Sudan. Specific documents on those subjects were pulled and given to Berger. In sum, Clinton used Berger to hide his previous unwillingness to bring Bin Laden to trial in the USA or to do anything serious about the Sudan’s involvement in global terrorism.
I wonder if Sandy Berger really expects to die of natural causes.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Bush administration is infested with the same radical secularist empire-builders that polluted the Clinton administration.
Betcha Clinton’s gettting a pice of berger’s global business, too.
It’s unnerving to read Clinton actually put this creep berger in a position to steal US national security documents——————AND reports that lowlife berger was a “workaholic,” that he worked late at night and could be seen surrounded with classified documents.
Workaholic my Aunt Tilly——this opportunistic creep was stealing stuff left and right-—— a looksee at berger’s emails and phone calls while at the Clinton WH would prove qute interesting.
Pajama People Rule!
Its not a secret. Hillary put him up to it, to hide comments that she put in the margins of Cabinet Documents.
She didn’t want Osama molested. After all, he might not like us if we went after him.

NEVER FORGET
.
Before his being appointed by President BILL CLINTON to be White House National Security Advisor SANDY BERGER was Communist China’s Head Lobbyist in Washington, D.C.
Before becoming President of the United States a young BILL CLINTON had traveled to the Soviet Union for 40 days to pick up Communist funding for his Anti-U.S. Demonstrations he was organizing during the Vietnam War, outside our American Embassy in London.
This as Communist Soviet Union money was also funding Communist North Vietnam’s killing Americans on the field of battle in a then Free South Vietnam.

The CLINTONS’ National Security Advisor hurriedly went on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ to say ‘I guarantee’ to the American People that there was no way the Communist Chinese could secure our Space Satellite and Missile technology when launching American Space Satellites from within mainland China.
Which they, of course, promptly DID..!!

He can be made to talk. It just depends on how bad you want the information. I’m sure an involuntary junket to Egypt or Saudi Arabia would produce stunning results.
