MOMMY DUMBEST
ROLLS TOT THRU WAL-MART SNORTING HEROIN: COPS
By TIM PERONE
Caught on camera: cops.May 28, 2007 -- A Long Island mom was busted for snorting heroin as she pushed her 3-year-old son through a Wal-Mart in a shopping cart, cops said yesterday.
Stacy Roe, 35, of Farmingville, was caught on video surveillance Saturday evening taking a straw out of her purse and shoving it up her nose, authorities said.
Security at the Centereach store called 911.
Cops responded, viewed the video and approached the woman while she was still in the store.
Roe admitted that she was using heroin and that she had a small glassine envelope of the drug inside her purse, police said.
She told cops she was addicted to Vicodin and was unable to obtain more of the painkillers - forcing her to turn to heroin, Suffolk County Police Sgt. Todd Barone said.
Her younger sister, who asked that her name not be printed, insisted last night that that the incident had been misconstrued.
"They lied on the news," said the woman outside Roe's house in a gated complex on Horizon View Drive.
She said her sister told her "she was just shopping for flowers," and some medication "fell out her bag.
"It was something prescribed for her," the sister said.
"She's going to have to clear this up.
"It's confusing right now. She's just really upset. She's crying. I'd be upset, too."
Roe briefly stepped out of her door to shoo a reporter away.
"No comment," the mom said.
Roe was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child, cops said.
She was given a desk-appearance ticket after paying $100 bail.
She is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on July 17th.

huh?
That’s what I said “huh”.
Like Lindsay Lohen, does this mean all of those “Cops” shows are lying when they show people with drugs in their cars going to jail? Why isn’t Lindsay going to jail if drugs were found in her car? Why is she getting special treatment?

Shirtless-At-The-WalMart PING
Scary pic.
Wal*Mart officials explained that snorting Heroin in the store was strictly against the rules, as non-Wal*Mart products may not be consumed on the premises.
I have a question: Is humanity getting more stupid / evil? Or is it that we are able to hear of every single bit of evil / stupidity that happens?
huh?
Lives in gated community, one set of rules for the well to do and one for the poor. Isn't America's legal system great.
Prayers for this woman and all other junkies.......
She looks like she was very pretty at one time. It really is tragic how drugs destroy beauty.
Amen to that. It is sad to see so much vitriol against this woman and so little sympathy. She desperately needs an intervention. Another note is that Vicodin is NASTY. Led this woman into madness, cost Rush Limbaugh his hearing. Yet perfectly legal and commonly prescribed.

That was OxyContin, not Vicodin.
Snorting smack and only gets $100 fine?
No wonder the “war on drugs” is failing.
And I’m surprised someone didn’t blame Wal-Mart’s oppressive policies that she wasn’t able to snort up inside a mom-and-pop store.
I don’t know if I was addicted, but I spent years on hydrocodone and Darvocet. I was almost killed and had 2 operations. It was the wrong crap to take all along. Most doctors prescribe it as a painkiller as an immediate need which is fine. But they all forget about after the immediate need. In my case. Voltaren, Robaxin and Ultracet taken at once then I wait until I feel my bones go where they belong. And no more. I wasted a lot of money on opiates.
BTTT
If heroin was legal, she wouldn’t have done this.
Ototoxic
Sure!. But Rush certainly didn't take as prescribed. Oxys and Vics are wonderful pain killers - but highly addictive.
My son was prescribed oxycontin for back pain. When he finally had corrective surgery, the medicos couldn't manage his post-op pain. I spoke to the surgeon, and he told me that he really preferred NOT to operate on patients who've had the drug, for that very reason.
“Why isnt Lindsay going to jail if drugs were found in her car? Why is she getting special treatment?’
After reading this article, I’d say Lindsay isn’t.
It was an honest mistake. The heroin was, after all, China White and would have fit right in.
Giggle. You are right. It’s the public that’s getting the shaft.
The funny thing is that if the Dolphins' Ricky Williams was a Vicodin addict, the NFL would be just fine with it, since it is a legal drug. But since Ricky likes to enjoy smoking a joint in his living room, he gets banned for 2 years. One of the top running backs in football--banned for smoking a joint. I don't if you know or care about that, but it seems like our attitudes are upside down when it comes to drugs.
Yeah!
