Poland to probe if Teletubbies are gay

WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland's conservative government took its drive to curb what it sees as homosexual propaganda to the small screen on Monday, taking aim at Tinky Winky and the other Teletubbies.
Ewa Sowinska, government-appointed children rights watchdog, told a local magazine published on Monday she was concerned the popular BBC children's show promoted homosexuality.
She said she would ask psychologists to advise if this was the case.
In comments reminiscent of criticism by the late U.S. evangelist Jerry Falwell, she was quoted as saying: "I noticed (Tinky Winky) has a lady's purse, but I didn't realize he's a boy."
"At first I thought the purse would be a burden for this Teletubby ... Later I learned that this may have a homosexual undertone."
Poland's rightist government has upset human rights groups and drawn criticism within the European Union by apparent discrimination against homosexuals.
Polish Education Minister Roman Giertych has proposed laws sacking teachers who promote "homosexual lifestyle" and banning "homo-agitation" in schools.
The 10-year-old show, that features four rotund, brightly-colored characters loved by children around the world, became a target of religious conservatives after Falwell suggested Tinky Winky could be homosexual.

I recall that robot-vacuum character - they made EXPLICIT sexual references with that. Money-shots, we’re talking... once they had it suck up some liquid that one of them spilled, and then it “got sick” and “vomited” by erupting back onto the Teletubby.
I can’t make this up, it was so obviously meant to be pornographic.
To: Abathar
Except there’s one problem here.
Falwell didn’t suggest the Tellytubby was homosexual.
One of his publications repeated MEDIA REPORTS that had been ongoing for OVER A YEAR on the subject. Falwell neither directed, nor had anything to do with the article.

I know that,he didn’t start the questions, he just reacted to all of them that was already in print. He was such a target for the left that it was too easy for the media to point to him.

I know. What happened to Falwell was an MSM industry-wide smear campaign, unfortunately effective in that it planed a meme in the public consciousness. Much the same thing happened to John Ashcroft.

The show came to our local PBS when I was about 10. I was above the age group, but I still watched it from time to time. I would also watch it when babysitting my cousins as I got older. I never thought about the purse, and it’s doubtful kids will either. Now that I think about it, I kind of wonder. When I have kids, I’ll let them watch it, though. Kids don’t think about those things.

I heard that all the sexual orientations were supposed to be represented by the Tubbies. That Po with her circle over the head was a straight female, Dipsy with his straight up in the air pointy thing on the head was the straight male. And Laa Laa, with the thing that is half a pointer and a circle too was the lesbian, and of course you have Tinky, who has the purple triangle over his head — how obvious — as the gay male.
All the Tubbies have high voices except Tinky, who has a deep male adult voice. Tinky Winky also likes to wear a ballet skirt, and has that purse. And he’s the only one who does, to make him stand out.
I am not a Falwell fan by any means but he was right about the purpose of the Tellitubbies, not that any of my kids who watched the show got ANY of the reference, of course. The show does not appeal to children over 3, and children under 3 ALL love dress-up and makeup and have no clue what’s for boys and what’s for girls.

To: DAnconia2007
Yes but Falwell was a Christian and the ultimate refusnik who would not submit himself to the slalags of political correctness and the wholesale homosexual indoctrination of Amerika.
Falwell is dead now and therefore destroying his memory and whatever legacy he has is the sole objective now. Years from now no one would have ever known he existed and that is the objective.
