I'd like to thank Matt Margolis for giving me the opportunity to talk to his readers at "Blogs for Bush" and "GOP Bloggers" about my candidacy. I am committed to reaching out to conservatives in the blogosphere and this is a great opportunity to do just that.
National Journal ranks me as the most conservative member of Congress running for the Presidency based on my lifetime voting record. So, I don't need to hire an army of consultants to turn me into a conservative. My record hasn't changed since I was swept into office by the Reagan Revolution 26 years ago. In fact, someone recently pointed out to me that I have more experience in Congress than the top three Democratic candidates combined.
I'm also a Vietnam veteran who served in the 173rd Airborne and 75th Army Rangers. I've been to Iraq five times, have a son who served two tours of duty in Iraq as a Marine, and Chaired of the House Armed Services Committee. So, I know what it will take to lead the country to victory in the war on terror.
That being said, homeland security begins at our nation's borders. Knowing who and what are entering our country is critical to our efforts to secure our communities and protect our families. Illegal immigration is a national security threat. If you're looking for a candidate who will build the wall on the Mexican border and will put a stop to illegal immigration, I'd encourage you to take a hard look at my candidacy. I built the border fence in San Diego and proved that it works. I wrote the Secure Fence Act to extend the San Diego fence 854 miles across California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. It's now the law.

He is a man who knows what he believes in and won't change his positions based on opinion polls.
Yeah, but Fred Thompson is a movie star.
Fred needs to explain his support of McCain Feingold before I throw my panties on his stage.
Duncan is getting stronger and stronger. I would love to see him, Fred, and Mitt in a three way debate. Probably the thing that hurts his chances more than anything is his name.
lol!
Exactly. Most of us will vote for the Candidate(R) whoever is chosen. Let's make it Hunter.
FMCDH(BITS)
I would love to hear Fred Thompson try to explain away the fact that he took away our First Amendment rights.
Duncan surely has my vote.. I have seen the fence here in San Diego many times... the only thing that his oppositon will harp on is he was caught up in the house banking scandal (I think it was called) and kitted quite a few hot checks...along with Barbie Boxer, she was the worst offender I guess money wise.. but no one every hears of that..
I wonder if we could get Hunter to make a guest post here on FreeRepublic? It would definitely help him win over some of those Fred Thompson supporters that have been running around lately.
I got this as an email today. I don’t see it on his website.

Memorial Day message from Duncan Hunter.
On this Memorial Day, let us remember the Americans who died on the battlefields of the world for us.
You know the Bible tells us “Greater love hath no man than he who lays down his life for another.” In the last century alone 619,000 American service members laid down their lives for us. They fought in Bellawood, Guadalcanal, the Chosin Reservoir and Kason, Vietnam. Today they fight in places called Fallujah and Baghdad and Kabul.
They are America’s greatest generation. We owe them our heartfelt support and the gratitude of a free nation.
In 1945, a young Marine returned from the South Pacific and he wrote these words to his wife, “I think just to be with your wife and family; to take care of your family every day is your greatest privilege a person can enjoy.” That marine was my father, Robert O. Hunter.
Sixty-one years later, another Marine returning from a place called Fallujah wrote these words. He said, “At some point in a dangerous environment, you forget about your own safety and you try to take care of your men and you place your own life in the hands of God. But your family, your wife and kids, never leave your mind.” This Marine is my son, Duncan D. Hunter, currently serving a third tour of active duty in the Middle East since 9/11.
Families lift our country up. They provide us with fidelity, morality, faith in God and raising the next generation of Americans.
God still loves this nation. We are still a people of character, of faith and courage.
On this Memorial Day, let us thank others who gave us our freedom.

Wow. I must say that Duncan Hunter will be better for the country than any other presidential candidate, including the actors :).

Duncan Hunter is not just an image - he is the real deal.
“Duncan Hunter is not just an image - he is the real deal.”
Couldn’t agree more! Nice to see a fellow Duncan Hunter supporter still up and at it!
“Nice to see a fellow Duncan Hunter supporter still up and at it!”
We NEVER SLEEP, and neither does Duncan Hunter!
I guess that makes me a good Hunter supporter! My total lack of sleep!lol
Actually I was headed to bed awhile ago but then some threads catch my attention and then I come alive again.
Duncan Hunter and his supporters are tireless.
Yeah? So where are the folks with the ping lists? Do we have to carry this thread all by ourselves?:)
“Do we have to carry this thread all by ourselves?”
We can handle it. We are DUNCAN HUNTER supporters after all.
From the first debate:
....
REP. HUNTER: Chris, thanks very much. John’s not the only guy with a defense background. I’ve been chairman of the Armed Services Committee for the last four years. I’ve helped to rebuild national defense. We have worked hard to make sure that our people have enough pay, that they’ve got the ammunition, that they’ve got the equipment, while at the same time looking over the horizon to look at the new threat of an emerging China and an Iran that is pursuing nuclear weapons and a Korea that already has some and is moving to get the means for delivery. So a strong national defense, the trademark of Ronald Reagan, is what I would pursue.
....
“You know, right now, right now, Iran is moving equipment into Iraq that is being used to kill Americans. Iran has crossed the line, and the United States has absolute license at this point to take whatever actions are necessary to stop those deadly instruments from being moved across the line, being used in explosives, roadside bombs, inside Iraq.”

REP. HUNTER: Chris, thanks very much. Johns not the only guy with a defense background.
And unlike McCain, Duncan Hunter is in control of his emotions. Hunter would provide a strong steady hand and a cool head in conducting the war on terror. What a lot of people call angry about DH because he doesn’t smile enough, I call serious, take no prisoners, leadership!
