Are we ready to do what it takes to reclaim the Republican Party?

"Rebuilding" is a very trying experience for baseball fans. It's what owners do when they decide that the current team is overpayed, underperforming, and irreformable. They clear out the current regulars and make room for new talent. In the meanwhile, though, fans have to suffer through a few seasons of not even hoping to win.

When done well, it works. The New York Yankees found themselves paying the highest salaries year after year in the 1980s. Although they had the best winning percentage overall for that decade, they had no division titles, let alone World Series championships, to show for it. They rebuilt in the early 1990s, and ended up winning four World Series in five years, largely based on the performance of new, home-grown stars like Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Andy Pettitte.

That the Yankees did undergo rebuilding was amazing, since George Steinbrenner always ran the team like there was no next year... and that's what the puppet-masters in Washington rely on the party faithful acting like each election.

It's time to say: no more. For five years, the Republican Party controlled both houses of Congress and the Presidency, and we have nothing to show for it but a few trillion more dollars of debt.

One positive that has come out of this immigration deal is that the faces of the Republican Party have been revealed, and my God! are they hideous! The GOP establishment has made plain that they have nothing but contempt for middle Americans, regarding us "racist," "prejudiced," "nativist," and "ignorant." It's time they go.

We must rid the GOP of the likes of Sens. Lindsay Graham, Dick Lugar, and Chuck Hagel. They are from deep red states, and still rule over us like Marxist overlords. They voted to permit local governments to obstruct justice by harboring fugitive aliens, including terrorists. We must defeat them in primaries at all costs. We know who the enemies of America are.

The hatred of the GOP establishment for America is more widespread than those two, however. I believe we have to go after Senators from purple states, too, to declare, once and for all, that betraying America is not an acceptable strategy to hold on to control. As they come up for re-election over the next six years, we must reject the RINOS like Sens. Olympia Snowe, Arlen Specter, and George Voinovich, but also the fake conservatives like Pete Domenici, and John Warner.

Don't fall for ratings like those from lobbyist clubs like the American Conservative Union. Too often, "85% conservative" means only that the senator's vote was needed for treachery only 15% of the time.

Yes, in the short run, there may be more Democrats elected. But we have to recognize that there is a difference between electing loyal Americans and electing Republicans; and there is no difference between having Arlen Specter rule and having Pat Leahy rule.

What to improve the party? Then more conservatives ought to run for the local seats (Village Council, School Board, and County Commissioners). This way, conservative can develop a farm team for higher offices. Also on a local level, conservatives have the opportunity to show uninformed voters that conservativism is good for them. Remember, today’s school board member could be tomorrow’s Senator.

You are so correct. Some here have let their anger, no matter how justified, turn them into members of a circular firing squad. If you “show” the Republicans, you enable the RATS. I’m not so sure some of these folks aren’t left over Perotistas and left wing plants.

When we did have the majority, we didn’t get anything of value out of Congress, anyway.

CALL! CALL! CALL! CALL! AND KEEP CALLING TILL THE LINES FRY!

WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! WRITE! TILL YOU RUN OUT OF INK IN YOUR PEN!

Bombard the Democrats as well, especially the ones that ran on an anti illegal immigration plank and the ones in marginal districts who could be vulnerable. keep pounding on them.

STOP AMNESTY NOW!! WE CAN DO IT!!

The best way to stop Shamnesty

Fred has an ACU rating of 86, which means 14% of the time he’s not a conservative)

No, that means that 14% of the time the ACU disagreed with his vote. While ACU ratings are meaningful, they are not gospel.

So what would such a party stand for? What would it mean to be a Republican-low taxes,anti-abortion etc? What you have in mind is a party which stands for nothing and will fall for anthing-pretty much exactly what we have today.

I was just going with the author’s theory about ACU ratings...Coburn is rated 100%...Fred, Bill Frist, Bob Dole, John McCain all have similar ACU ratings that the author was dismissing in his post.

You got it! Hillary will probably win in 08. This is sad and unfortunate indeed. The Republican Party has had a field day on us CONSERVATIVES. I was at one time a Bush Bot like yourself after 9-11. However looking back as this article has said we have nothing to show for the last 5 years other than 4 trillion dollars more debt, a fake war on terror, Estados Unidos in the making, several idiotic hate crime bills, and a bunch of COWARDS (pu$$y republicans) that wont stand up and fight for ANYTHING that’s good for America. These pathetic fools couldn’t even protect OUR FLAG OR THE PLEGE OF ALLIGANCE !!!!!!!!

ACU ratings are not all they’re cracked up to be. A “conservative” bill might well be anti-Constitution or anti-Federalism, and someone like Fred might vote against it.

At this point I don’t care. I saw Sen. Chambliss stand next to Pres. Bush and defend this crazy amnesty bill. The good Senator know more than 90 % of Georgians are against this bill, he doesn’t care. I will not vote for him again. I don’t care if rats get elected. I’ll stay home. Frankly, I can’t tell the difference between Repubs and Dems anymore anyway.

From what I’ve been seeing we’ve far too many Republicans and conservatives that are willing to Blame Bush and then stick their head in the sand....til we get those fools back and thinking straight we are gonna have a devil of a time getting the good ship GOP headed in the right direction.

You mean if Rats get elected, we might get an amnesty bill? Wait we already did-this bill is supported by Repubs. Perhaps we might get a crazy improve education bill. But wait-Bush and Teddy got together and got just such a bill. I know we don’t want a big senior prescription drug bill-too costly. I forgot, President Bush and Democratic allies did just that-trying to court senior for the 2006 elections. You know both parties are worthless and will do anything to get elected-Republicans are no more principled than our Democrats.

So don’t vote for him then.

Fred’s a breath of fresh air. Especially compared to:

-A cross-dressing liberal
-An insane man who was once a hero
-A flip-flopping guy from Massachusetts who sounds and looks good but that’s about it
-A protectionist, pork-barrel spending Buchananite
-A formerly good Senator who went soft on defense
-A pot-smoking libertarian whack job
-A great conservative who has ruined his self image by coming across as a one-trick pony with foot-in-mouth disease who blames EVERYTHING on illegal immigrants

We must rid the GOP of the likes of Sens. Lindsay Graham, Dick Lugar, and Chuck Hagel.

Why??? Let them keep the GOP which has become corrupted and is a far cry from being conservative. Start a fresh new conservative party.

You mean like the Constitution party that has failed to win a single election outside of dog catcher?

Yeah, that’ll solve the problem.

Those who are interested in this thread may also gain something from this one. How Would You Go About Truly Reforming Our Political Parties?.

The thread contains some warnings about obstruction and derailment you can expect from those currently running the GOP. Also suggests ways to shield your revolt from it.

The thread proposes a starting place, a target. Its ideas need tailoring to fit situations as they arise. It require leadership in order to keep together a loyal corp. Too many of you have not been trained in what it will take to do this, so get trained and then pass the training along to your allies.

The thread has had several lives over the 5½ years since its first posting. I'm not sure it could go far while FR was still infested with RINOs. Now is the time to try again.

Cacique,

They are not listening, not Republican, not democrats and certainly not this idiot President. NO ONE IS LISTENING!!! They hear us, but it doesn't make any difference. They just don’t give a damn what we taxpaying voters are saying.
