BAGHDAD (AP) - An Iraqi official says the al-Qaida leader in a western Baghdad neighborhood has been killed in clashes between US forces and al-Qaida gunmen.
Casualty figures have not been made available and there is no immediate word from the US military about the fighting. But the official says 45 other fighters have been detained.
Meanwhile, authorities say three policemen and three civilians were killed and 15 civilians were wounded after a suicide truck bomber struck a communications center on the western outskirts of Ramadi.
In Fallujah, one report says at least 20 people were killed after a suicide bomber hit a police recruiting center in Fallujah. But the US military says only one policeman was killed and eight were wounded.
I hope June is even more productive... and July and
August ..
Every week another “al Qaeda leader” is killed. If ever week we’re killing the leader, what then, exactly, is Osama?
