After more than two years of disheartening online dating, Charlotte Kullen resolved to spend less time pursuing men and more time pursuing her hobbies. She plunged into tennis, running, sailing, horseback riding, fitness boot camp and scuba diving classes, assuming that somewhere between the sit-ups and the strapping on of fins she might meet some eligible prospects.

I must be living in the wrong part of the country. I go to the gym 6 times a week and I see some women, but about half are undatable and the other half are uninterested.
Men already know how to do everything.
Explain undatable. Married?,Ugly?..........
There is a war going on... She should join the Army.
actually men are just paying her back for being successful. /sarc
The article fails to mention that out of the men who do show up for these courses, 90 percent are probably gay.
This tendency is already true among teenage boys. I recently was asked to help select students based on merit for a special program that always looks good on transcripts and college applications. The pool of students were drawn from a small high school’s junior class. Only the top 18 students from the class of 60 or so were allowed to enter the selection process. Out of the 18, 12 were girls. They had the highest GPAs. They competed in the most sports. They had the most awards. They also worked the most hours at part time jobs. They were much more likely than the boys to have jobs at all in fact. The girls were also much more likely to have service of some kind for the community.
I looked into other things at the school, and at other schools to a lesser extent, and discovered this was common. The girls are working hard, while many of the boys are hardly working. When I asked some of the boys about this (both boys in and outside of the selection pool), I was surprised to hear them respond with such blunt comments as, “Well, the girls care about their grades. We don’t,” or, “The girls actually work at this stuff.”
Lionel Tiger was right. Read his THE DECLINE OF MALES if you want to know what I mean.
So for the last year or so I've been getting stoned and watching reruns of Star Trek: The Next Generation and let me tell you: the babes are NOT banging my door down."
Married, too young, ugly, all of the above. Then there are the ones that if you look at them wrong, they will mace you.
Men are disappearing like the bees.
I just love it. Because men aren’t taking classes, there MUST be some kind of fault or deficiency in the men that they aren’t there.
There are just a lot of messed up men and women out there. If you’re over 40 and still in the dating scene, you’re most likely going to be getting someone with some amount of baggage.
Yet 90% of the graduates of engineering schools are men.
I don’t know...it sounds to me that the area where most of this takes place is inhabited by the New Castrati...
Wine tasting...literary courses...cooking classes...music classes...
Not that there is anything wrong with those things, mind you...:)
Maybe it's you, Charlotte? Naaaaaaw, couldn't be...
We are here but the real men have different schedules. I am up and out to work between 6:30 and 7:00. I see mostly men in the cars beside me. Women in my office don’t get in until 8 or 9.
When the class is 50/50, the women complain that the men dominate the conversation and demand classes where they won’t feel intimidated.
Just goes to show when you give women what they say they want, they’re still never happy.
They expect some chick-flick watching, wealthy sensitive hunk is just going to be hanging out unattached at wine-tasting classes and musuem tours. And if she ever finds one, he’s probably going to be gay.
>> Women who take classes wonder where all the men are
Doing the jobs women won’t do.
Great...engineers...see post 9. :-)
If you dig into the bee stories more closely, you will find out that the bees that are dying off are the ones that man has messed with and are breeding to be bigger than they normally would be, and actually physically moving their hives around (quite disruptive to the bees) to pollenate different areas. The beekeepers who do not do this are not seeing this occur in their hives.
Check back through the FR archives, I wound up reading that story here.
