I think our D.C. legislators have come up with a solution to the outrage over the amnesty side of this issue.
They’re going to change the timing of the ‘touchback’ by implementing Pence’s plan. They think we will be satisfied that this is NOT amnesty if illegal aliens are forced to go home and apply to return and then wait their turn in line. What they won’t say is that this trip back home is more like a revolving door, they will be allowed to return immediately and ‘wait’ their turn here so that they can continue to do the jobs we won’t, but is essentially cutting to the front of the line. It will also give immediate amnesty to the employers who’ve been employing them and the whole thing is a scheme to placate the anti amnesties, while causing the least disruption to big business. “Enforcing” the immigration laws will be mute really. Illegal aliens will be here legally and employers will be off the hook.
I’ll just be interested to see WHO accepts this as a compromise.
To see the negative effect of being unable, under law, to repeal a law, see Daniel 6. Daniel 6:6. “Now, O King, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered — in accordance with the laws of the Medes and the Persians, which cannot be repealed.” And one of the most famous stories in the Bible unfolds, all hinging on the ruler being tricked into issuing an unalterable decree . . .
