Anybody can make biodiesel. It's easy, you can make it in your kitchen -- and it's BETTER than the petro-diesel fuel the big oil companies sell you. Your diesel motor will run better and last longer on your home-made fuel, and it's much cleaner -- better for the environment and better for health. If you make it from used cooking oil it's not only cheap but you'll be recycling a troublesome waste product. Dunno. There’s an outfit down the road a couple miles from me selling a machine to do it. For about 10 grand. Seems like I would try to build the set up myself.
LOL, this is hysterical. I love that you need duct tape. It reminds me of the 70s when I came home one day and a friend who was crashing on our sofa was using one of our garbage cans on the top of the stove, to boil his bee supers. It took weeks to get rid of the smell.

yea, but i think it’s illegal cuz of all the regulations and such the government imposes on the citizens regarding gasoline.... really a shame, cuz I know someone who would make stuff out of restraunt greese and some other recyclables that worked just fine, but I bet he was violating one law or another...

The original reason Mr. Diesel invented his engine in the first place was so farmers could power it from home grown fuels back in the 1800’s.

This is going to look SO damn cool in the kitchen. We can get rid of that table and those cabinets to make room. I'm going to put one together now and surprise my wife for Mother's Day! She's going to love it. Then I'll buy her a 25 year old Mercedes so she can make her own fuel. I am going to be 'DA MAN around here, she's going to be so thrilled.
Jesse James was fined $3 million by the EPA for selling choppers that hadn’t been smogged. I can’t imagine what the EPA fines are like for using a homebrewed fuel in an engine with unauthorized modifications. LOL!

Well, the GREAT feeling of freedom, independence and empowerment that making my own bio-methane has given me has been exhilarating - and always an attention getter at parties and dinners. I can only imagine how bio-diesel will go over.
Thanks for posting the link! One crazy gov.org run amok story over there. It almost makes me want to buy a diesel car and brew my on biodiesel. I wonder how hard it would be to get a steady supply of used vegetable oil?
My son’s best friend and his brother make their own biodiesel. They both have old Mercedes and love it!
The only reason the government wants (and has made it) to make it illegal is that they cannot regulate the production, and most importantly “tax” every aspect of this process by private citizens, like they can a big company...
Not that I have any problems with self-sufficiency, considering I live 300 miles from the nearest road and I’ve learned how to make anything from scraps. However... let’s be real. Vegetable oil requires lots of plant material. Lots of it. Processing that vegetable oil also requires a lot of energy, machinery, land, and creates a lot of plant waste, not to mention the amount of energy required to get it to your house. Having said that, if you live next to the local greasy spoon and the owner is willing to have you take away his fry oil and clean the grease trap, I’d say go for it. However, it’s still far more efficient to use petroleum right now.
Skip using the bio diesel by itself.......properly configured and used you’ll almost drive free !
I get a free burger and drink when I haul off the waste cooking oil from my small towns Mom and Pop cafe’s and drive in’s.
The system works like this. Ya start yer diesel using diesel or bio diesel . Then when your up and running switch over to the fryer fluid and drive on that. When your about a mile or two from your destination switch back to real diesel to purge your fuel lines of the fryer fluid.
They have a 40 & 80 gallon bed tank and other tanks for passenger vehicles etc . The system I have has a “heated” tank to prevent the crisco effect on cold days and it is filtered when I take it from the holding tank at the burger joints. Then it is filtered when it goes into the fuel lines from the tank and then filtered again by the vehicles regular fuel filter on the engine.
I have been using mine since December of last year......
So fuel costs have gone up ?.........:o)
My Dodge 2500, 2006 5.9L, 4x4 shortbed, quad cab with a Bully Dog Programmer set on performance level, Cold Air AFE stage II intake , 5 inch exhaust with a dead kitty, and all synthetic POL products gets me into the low 20-23 mpg.
First diesel I have ever “owned” and I love it ! Drove em in the service and for other employers but they were slow and powerful. Properly “tweeked” cummins is FAST !
It is fast, powerful and thus far flawless after 22K + miles on the odometer ! The Bully Dog programmer has 3 settings for 79Hp performance, 130hp towing and a setting called Crazy Larry Mode that they want ya to sign a waiver before they give it too ya as they’re pretty sure yer gonna break something with the massive horsepower that provides !
I am not normally a Dodge fan yet that was the only wrapper that my desired engine came in. Rumor has it Toyota Tundras will get a Cat Diesel and maybe......jusssssssst maybe after Mercedes dumped Chrysler Inc the Tundra might even get a Cummins. Seems Mercedes wanted to put their bluetec diesels into the dodge truck line and I think they burnt some bridges at cummins...... That is just rumor mill of course.
Seems of late all Toyota Tundra ad’s have a yellow and black flavor. Kind of “CAT” like per se.........
I think there is another fry oil system called Golden Fuels . com or net something that has a really good system as well.
