President Bush Announces Five-Year, $30 Billion HIV/AIDS Plan
The White House ^ | May 30, 2007

Posted on 06/02/2007 2:13:37 PM PDT by pleikumud

The United States has responded vigorously to this crisis. In 2003, I asked Congress to approve an emergency plan for AIDS relief. Our nation pledged $15 billion over five years for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care in many of the poorest nations on Earth. In the years since, thanks to the support of the United States Congress and the American people, our country has met this pledge. This level of assistance is unprecedented, and the largest commitment by any nation to combat a single disease in human history.

Our tax dollars at work. Gay sex is the root cause, the originating cause, of this worldwide health crisis. Meanwhile, public schools teach children that gays are responsible members of society, gays parade about their "Gay Pride" (with help from Giuliani, etc), and courts and legislatures endorse gay "unions" and "marriages". This is lunacy.

The UN crowd will probably think less of the United States taxpayers for not giving “enough”.
As Archie Bunker would have put it, so eloquently, “Geezus Meathead, it’s like pouring our money down the terlit.”

This is very discouraging. $30 billion is a lot of money.

It's all going into the pockets of tin-pot dictators so they buy more weapons to kill their citizens anyway.

This is not the way to build a legacy Mr President, this is not the way. You will never win any love from the left, not that it matters, and in the process you will loose your most loyal supporters. And as you can tell, the erosion has already begun.

“Does this mean the World will like us again?”

I get a chuckle when I see lefties say that in these matters,

unwitting puppets of Big Pharma pr campaigns

Bush has been deep in the Drug Co. pockets for years.

In fact his strongest anti-comnpetitive acts relate to drugs, like keeping out imports from our NAFTA partner Canada.

I’d say he’s a deeply corrupt man, but suspect Rove/Norquist feed him with enough lies he might think he’s doing the lesser of two evils.

This is lunacy.

It certainly is. It is also clearly Unconstitutional. It bears not the slightest relationship to the Common Defense and General Welfare of these United States of America. If the President wants to raise money to fight disease, poverty or what have you, overseas, he can appeal for Charitable contributions. But the revenues of the United States are not his personal playthings.

America does not exist for the world. It does not exist as a sacrificial milk cow for humanity. It must either serve its own or it loses any purpose, direction, meaning. We have to put a stop to the cloud and windborne theories of intellectually underdone graduates from Universities that completely lost their own way a few generations back, and embraced the day dreams of crack-brained Socialists pursuing fantasies of things that never were and never will be.

Have we another Yale or Harvard graduate running for President, next year? We had better look long and hard, to make sure he hasn't embraced the fantastic world of the international theorist and "do-gooder." (I put "do-gooder" in quotes, because the tragic-comic reality is that these people almost never actually accomplish something good.)

Gay sex is the root cause, the originating cause, of this worldwide health crisis.

I can't agree more..... except in ...especially in sub-Saharan Africa. (which the money is really for ) gay sex has little to do with the AIDS/HIV pandemic

Simply from a humanity standpoint and especially from a geopolitical strategy, we need to try and stop this crisis from destroying literally whole generations of people.

Where death and destruction reign, the Islamic fascism surely will prosper and grow. I look at this as preemptive help

I don't like the fact it is only our money being tapped, the EU needs to step to the plate big time as well as the rich petro countries. I'm not holding my breath

The President is right here, and we should support him. Here’s why:

(1) Christians and Muslims compete for the souls of the African people, and we must fight the war against Islamofascist terrorism on all fronts. We want the African people on our side and strong enough to fight this war. Treating this epidemic and restoring health and hope to millions gives those millions a strong incentive to support us against our enemies when the time comes.

(2) People with poorly functioning immune systems can harbor and transmit bizarre or deadly diseases including tuberculosis. In a global economy, the health of our people and Americans abroad (including diplomats and troops) depends upon the health of others whom they contact.

(3) Although abhorrent, gay sex is not the “root cause” of human immunodeficiency virus. That virus spreads in five ways:
(a) sexual intercourse with an infected person (including but not limited to sodomy);
(b) contaminated needles (usually intravenous illegal drugs in this country but not uncommon at medical facilities in the Third World);
(c) birth to or lactation from an infected mother (the infected can bear absolutely no blame for this route of transmission very common in sub-Saharan Africa);
(d) blood transfusions (before 1984 in the United States but continuing risk in certain countries); and
(e) consumption of infected meat (probable root cause is some guys eating a chimpanzee).

In sub-Saharan Africa, the most common routes of infection are (a) and (c), and homosexual activity is relatively rare with adultery and fornication common among barbarian [non-Christian] populations. The originating/root cause is probably (e). Abhorrent homosexual activity contributed to the spread of the disease in the early 1980s among the heathens of San Francisco.

Africa needs Christianity, and this program is one tool to make that happen. So let us control our southwestern border and use the money not spent on subsidizing illegal immigrants to give hope to some children.

Why new jails, they will be the new protected class and we must honor and value the new culture they will bring with them. So there is a little law breaking, it will be just part of the new wonderful culture of America.

Sorry but I am really po'd about this. Is there anything he doesn't want to give away?

restoring health and hope to millions gives those millions a strong incentive to support us against our enemies when the time comes

These funds are disbursed in partnership with the host government.

What reason do we have to believe that this money will be effective in actually reducing the epidemic of AIDS/HIV, rather than merely treating the victims (other than, perhaps, in Uganda)?

In other words, on what basis do we believe these programs will plug the leaks, instead of just sopping up an increasing amount of water?

More people in a square mile of San Fran have AIDS/HIV than the entire country of Japan.

I seriously doubt Japan will be concerned

Money from the state is completely washed of all religious taint. More money taken in the name of Cesar means less money that can be given in the name of Christ.

Africa needs Christianity, and this program is one tool to make that happen.

But wait a second ... this money isn' freely given, it's taken by force of law from Americans. If people really believe "we need to stop this", they can donate money, and many do now. But forcibly-collected tax money should only be spent for the direct interests of this country, and the American people.

Presidents from both parties seem to lose touch with the concept of individual responsibility (as opposed to socialist collectivism) and begin to think they were appointed savior of the world, not just president of this free-market republic.
