John McCain Warns Illegal Immigration Enforcement Could Lead to Riots

Just when the dust was beginning to settle following President Bush's latest assault on common sense, in which he accused conservatives of "spreading fear" by being honest about amnesty, Senator John McCain decided that fear mongering was not such a bad tactic after all. In fact, McCain decided that fear mongering was essential in trying to sell his amnesty snake oil to a skeptical and increasingly suspicious public.
On June 2, McCain rolled out his fear-based defense of amnesty on the campaign trail in Le Mars, Iowa. Responding to a question about deportation of illegal aliens, McCain delivered the following dilly: "In case you hadn't noticed, the thousands of people who have been relegated to ghettos have risen up and burned cars in France,'' McCain said. "They've got huge problems in France. They have tremendous problems. The police can't even go into certain areas in the suburbs of Paris. I don't want that in the suburbs of America.''

Between the lines, what I think Osterlund is trying to get across is to not let our relative affluence undermine our civic responsibility.
Unfortunately, that is now the persuasive language of the “progressives”, who twist such notions into sacrifice at the altar of the Public Sector.
I like the Armed Citizenry. Those old dead white men had it right a couple-hundred-and-change years ago.

Over 38,000 Latinos Attend Event
Fort Worth - Over 38,000 people from all over DFW metroplex attended the annual celebration of Dia de la Raza in La Gran Plaza in Fort Worth. In addition to live music and other entertainment, the event offered exhibits, games, raffles, and food and product samples. As a major sponsor of the event, Pizza Patrón exhibited a strong presence, hosting a prize tent and offering pizza by the slice. Branded vehicles were on display in strategic areas to promote brand awareness. The Patrón tent was a nonstop flurry of activity with customers enjoying fresh pizza while they played for prizes. At times, the demand for pizza was almost overwhelming. With the help of a store located near the event, managed by Manuel Chavez, the Pizza Patrón team was able to make the most of this great community event. "It's great to see how much people enjoy interacting with us at these events, and we were also able to let new customers know about my store" said Chavez. Pizza Patrón features festive and fun carryout-only pizza stores that are community based in Spanish speaking or predominately Hispanic neighborhoods. The units are open from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. to midnight on Fridays, 12:00 p.m. to midnight Saturdays, and 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sundays. The menu is value oriented, offering high quality, freshly prepared pizzas at very low price points. All pizza dough is made fresh throughout the evening; no preservatives are added or needed. The sauce is prepared fresh in the stores, as well, from crushed Roma tomatoes. Only 100% mozzarella is used. Whole and half pizzas are offered at prices as low as $4.99 for a large pizza with cheese and one topping and $3.49 for the same half pizza. A large deluxe pizza with everything is only $6.99. not let our relative affluence undermine our civic responsibility. I agree and we have become fat, dumb and happy so to speak. We've enjoyed our prosperity and let lapse our responsibilities especially over the last 40 years or so. Us baby boomers have not been nearly as involved as we should have been.
Those old dead white men had it right a couple-hundred-and-change years ago.
Yeah, we may be more "advanced" but they were not so dumb after all even if they were "evil". /s

I think you are on to something. It sounds like McCain is using Segolene Royal's tactic of threatening that there will be violence if she didn't get her way. It didn't work in the French election and I hope it doesn't work here. Beyond that, I suspect that McCain would be the first to call out the authorities against American citizens if we tried to stop illegal alien rioters ourselves.

Exactly! Ones fire, and the other is slow implosion.
I would take our situation over France’s...any day. Although France actually changed their laws and are atleast trying to head in a better direction. Can’t say the same for us Americans.
To: TaxPayer2000
If there were illegal alien riots, he, as President, would more than likely send out federal troops--to protect the illegals--and to contain or even kill patriotic Americans who rose up in counter mass, in order to protect their property, fellow citizens and country from these lawless invaders.
I am getting really tired of this McCain fellow. Really.

Well at least the rioters will let the police know who they are so they can be deported after a lengthy jail sentence faster.

Something tells me you aren’t a “ThompsonConservative” at all.
I may be wrong, but are you perhaps one of those operatives the White House has asked to post here? If not, then you do none of us a favor expressing things like this in relation to illegal immigration, nor in implying that you somehow represent Fred Thompson with that comment... And if so, well it pretty much figures from what we’ve been hearing lately...

It’s probably time to do some Republican house cleaning. Let’s boot McCain, Graham and any other a**hole that votes for amnesty. We should demand security first, always.
To: TaxPayer2000
Sounds like McCain will be at the head of the pack leading them. And these people that will rise up and riot will be the same ones we want to give citizenship to? That really makes me want to support this plan /sarc. Way to go McPain.

So we have a uncivil minority, and this idiot wants to amnesty them and encourage more to come?

Well a man come on 6 o’clock news
Said somebody been shot
Somebody’s been abused
somebody blew up a building
somebody stole a car
somebody got away
somebody didn’t get too far
Yeah, they didn’t get too far
Grandpappy told my pappy back in my day
Son a man had to answer for the wicked that he’d done
Take all the rope in Texas
Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys
Hang them high in the street
For all the people to see
That Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we’ll sing a victory tune
And we’ll all meet back at the local saloon
And we’ll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing
whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
It is time we draw that hard line.

He may have meant tear gas, which isn’t pleasant but not a gas with which to commit genocide. Tear gas is often used for riot control which is what the article was about. Let us both hope I am right. :)

Hmmm... If these fools get their way, I might run some plumbing out to the storage shed in my back yard and park a port-a-potty there. I figure it’s big enough to put bunks for about 6 illegals. I can then get my grass cut and car washed regularly. The rent money might even pay my mortgage.
What? My town has a zoning law against multi-family dwellings? No problem... my tenants have amnesty so it won’t be a problem, right? Everyone should have a few illegals of their own!
/sarc
I thought the idea that our economy must be built on the back of an enslaved class of non-person was settled back in 1865. Apparently I was wrong. Not only are these politicians traitors to our country, they also seem to believe that we need to reinstate a form of slavery.
McCain and the rest who favor this travesty are despicable.

So, in effect, el Presidente Wannabe has already capitulated to the massive strength in numbers of the illegals and declared them the winners.
So, in effect, the illegals' invasion of American is a success, according to McCain.
So, in effect, McCain has declared his and his fellow politicians' incompetence in dealing with the illegals problem.

McCain’s solution is to not enforce existing laws, but make new ones. It’s the same solution he applied to the campaign finance violations of the Clintonistas. The Clintonistas were taking money from Communist China, which is illegal. Solution? The McCain-Feingold legislation, which is a violation of the First Amendment rights we are all supposed to have.
To: johnpannell
I thought the idea that our economy must be built on the back of an enslaved class of non-person was settled back in 1865. Apparently I was wrong. What McCain is pointing to here, in his gross and angry ignorance, is what happens when an underclass is deliberately created, as his amnesty bill intends.
The French youth to which he refers are second generation, French-born, non-deportable citizens of a non-assimilated permanent underclass -- the same type of underclass this amnesty bill will create, with the same sorry results.
To: TaxPayer2000
Scofflaws would resist the law if it came to enforcement? Hmm. Imagine that.
But we are to believe that they would suddenly obey all other laws and become good citizens “if only...”
