Dear Johnny boyremember when the French asked us for a bribe?
Million for Defense, not one cent for tribute.

And then there was that radical George Washington, was he unpatriotic?

“A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.”

I wonder if Kennedy, McCain, Kyl and Bush realize they have their collective hands on the hadle of Pandora’s Box, and realize it is about to open ????

Kennedy does, and he's pretty happy about it.

Bush and McCain are delusional.

Kyl had his pocket picked by the old master, Kennedy.

I agree with your #36. Problem is there is nobody willing to enforce that law either. We can’t seem to get enough politicians attention to secure either border, let alone deal with the present invaders.

Some without actually saying so, have the attitude there was an unofficial welcome mat with engraved invitations for cheap work because that is what is *good* for America.

"Bingo! And you can warn them ahead of time by declaring that citizens who shoot rioters and looters will be immune to criminal/civil prosecution."

Correct! , and hopefully not necessary. During the last LA riots, the people protecting their property were not molested by the Gobernment. Hopefully, that will hold true, but I would not bet on it.

How do these people in Washington get elected?

Could it be that millions of the 30 million illegal aliens are voting, changing the very direction and course of this country.

What would they expect to eventually happen when 30 million people are allowed to enter illegally, given free goodies, health care etc.

Does anyone think this will not start affecting our electoral process?

I really want to respect Sen. McCain for his service, the man went through some horrific times. I am not sure if that has anything to do with his going over the deep end, but over the deep end, he has gone. “They will riot”, is just one of the latest of the many defenses for this moronic bill. You will hear many more before this is over, “dividing families”, Obama is still on that one, “living in the shadows”, is a hard sell when you have a million protesting in the streets. This bill is evidence that the socialism is no longer just creeping in this country, it is going full speed towards a third world, socialists, PC crap-hole. See tagline for solution.

Deputize with limited immunity and incentive-inducing bounties. Let the states do the same thing to employers.

Yes, this will create corrupt coalitions of illegals ratting each other out and paying off politicos, but is that really any worse than what we have now?

How does a man survive all those years in NVA capture and then wimp-out to surrender to an illegal invasion?

I mean, one has to be incredibly strong to survive POW camp like he did. And now, he’s acting like somebody spilled ice cream on his skirt and he’s crying like a little girl. Really odd.

Illegals rioting? All the more reason to kill this bill. We want to give amnesty to a group of people who have so little respect for our country and our laws that they violently rebel against us.

Keep your powder dry. I’m not submitting to policy by riot, and I doubt anyone else here is either. What an absolutely cowardly position to take. We have to appease them or else they will riot? Are you freekin kidding me?

What did he do there that fellow POW (and my congressman) Sam Johnson was so repulsed by that Johnson refused to endorse McCain for President?

I have seen, with ever growing concern, the brazen disconnect between the will of the American people and our elected representatives on the subject of Amensty. Obviously, there will be dissent on the best way to deal with the continually growing influx of illegal aliens to our country; but there is a strong majority who believe we must stem the tide - and do it now!

Over the years, people have gotten used to hearing the word "right" slapped onto every cause and into many a slogan/jingle. It's gotten so that anyone can claim anything as a "right," when the reality is that many of the things we hold dear are not "rights" at all, they are privileges.

The Constitution specifically enumerates what "rights" we, as human beings, possess by virtue of our humanity - for those who believe in God, our Divine Birthright. But many of the comforts we enjoy: medical care, education, social assistance, etc., are privileges of living in America, paid for American taxpayers. While basic rights should be extended to all people in our shores, legal or not, the "privileges" that come from being an American should only be extended to those who were invited to join our Society. This is what irks many the most. Not only are privileges of citizenship being extended to non-citizens, they are being offered on a platter!

While I applaud our folks for leading the charge, making the calls, and sending the e-mails/faxes to propose this onerous legislation, it appears that Washington stands ready to turn a deaf-ear. Our howls of outrage are becoming "white noise."

Perhaps it is time to make a more visual presence? Just a few ideas came to me, and I will happily let other FReepers take the helm:

How about we turn out, en masse, wearing the color RED to symbolize our anger? Red, one of the colors of our great flag? Red, the color of patriotic blood, shed to preserve our country? Red, the color of countless victims' blood, shed by illegal criminals finding safe harbor in our shores? Red, the color of the ink used to print the huge balooning national deficit our children will face due to all the "entitlements" this amnesty bill will heap upon us? Red ribbons. Red lettering on signs. Red bumper stickers "NO AMENSTY."

Like the "Gore/Leiberman" "Sore/Loserman" slogans, and the "Support the Troops" rallies before - or even the "Count the Silverware" campaign, I think that actions will definitely speak louder than words.

Latinos and the 1992 Los Angeles Riots: A Behavioral Sciences Perspective (Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences, Vol. 15, No. 4, 427-448 (1993)

The same could be said for blacks. Some of the most hateful black militants are not poor or oppressed. It’s about identity politics and specials rights for social groups. If all this immigration of recent years had happened from Mexico 100 years ago, without the cultural Marxists running around, I would have much less to fear. Of course, Hispanics would now be 50% of the pop instead of 25%...

``In case you hadn't noticed, the thousands of people who have been relegated to ghettos have risen up and burned cars in France,'' McCain said. ``They've got huge problems in France. They have tremendous problems. The police can't even go into certain areas in the suburbs of Paris. I don't want that in the suburbs of America.''

So, to avoid the problem caused by immigration in France, he wants open immigration in America?

I found this link, not sure of its veracity nor have I vetted it and it is the first I have heard of this. Given McCain’s disturbing affection for terrorists and foreign invaders what does that say of the man we would anoint King, that he supported him in 2000 and is still close with him as I understand? "Deputize me today!"

Must maintain the chain of command and the rule of law as long as possible to avoid total chaos and anarchy. See your local sheriff. He's/she's authorized to do that, being elected by the good Citizens of your county. Giterdone early. May not be time to do that after the ballon goes up. Take a bunch with you. You'll probably have to buy your own guns and a hat, but maybe you can bargain for some ammo. A stand-by reserve. Yeah, that should work.

If the enemy, whoever they turned out to be, knows we've got the numbers and are organized somewhat, it may be just enough to avoid a worst-case scenario.

I’m just tired of it all. I’m tired of my concerns being minimized and demonized. I’m tired of America being turned into a free-for-all with no concern for our history, ancestors or our well being. I’m tired of our elected officals only being concerned about the dollar bill above all else. This is not the America I learned about nor the America I love. I’m just tired of trying to be “nice” about it when in reality AFAIC they are out to destroy America and in essence harm my family and our posterity.

In my neck of the woods, the rioters don’t stand a chance. The locals are loaded for bear and know the terrain.

Where rioting would make a difference, though, is the inner cities, where the dirtbags and thugs have been enabled for 40 years and the residents feel no ownership and care nothing about what happens to their locale. (During the Rodney King riots, the local residents had no problem trashing their own neighborhoods.)

If entire inner city blocks were burned to the ground, they’d just sit and wait for the meals-on-wheels trucks to show up like the Hurricane Katrina “victims”.

"In case you hadn't noticed, the thousands of people who have been relegated to ghettos have risen up and burned cars in France,'' McCain said.

McCain needs to be put out to pasture. He's not stable enough to be President....

I wonder if McCain is hoping that his remarks will encourage them to riot now so we'll let them have amnesty to stop the riots? I wouldn't put it past him!

There is a huge difference that he has overlooked. The rioters in France are French citizens now.....

Our situation is totally different. The illegals in America are foreigners and if they start rioting, we will take it as an attack from another country.....

If/when it becomes necessary that we have to defend ourselves from them we will start shooting!

Its future will depend on the ability of a self-governing nation of free men and women to find within this rich and living charter the way to confront the challenges of the centuries ahead. An active and informed citizenry is necessary to the effective functioning of our constitutional system.

As our first Chief Justice John Marshall wrote, "The people make the Constitution, and the people can unmake it. It is the creature of their own will and lives only by their will."

All of us have an obligation to study the Constitution and participate actively in the system of self-government it establishes. This is an obligation we owe not only to ourselves and to our posterity, but to the Framers, who risked everything for freedom, and to the brave men and women who throughout our history have preserved the Constitution, often at the cost of their lives. Let us rededicate ourselves to the values the Constitution embodies.

There’s a math problem somewhere in here...let me see...last census says about 300 million people in the U.S.; government estimates say about 12 to 20 million illegal aliens (from a multitude of countries) reside in America, taking advantage of it’s legal, law-abiding, tax-paying citizens...300 take away 12=288 million. 300 take away 20=280.

We outnumber illegals by about 280-288 million people.

I think we can take them on with a serious chance of victory, don’t you think? Enough of this “We can’t enforce the laws, we can’t deport illegals, what are you people thinking? There will be riots in the street!!” crapola! >:-(
