It is very important to remember that unlike Black Americans, bigotry against Mexican Americans is still not being fully addressed.
Amnesty should continue to be part of our approach when attempting to solve our immigration problems with Mexico. The contributions hard-working Mexican Americans make to our society easily wipe out any so-called "free benefits" legal or non-legal immigrants may obtain through local, state, and federal programs.
Unlike some other Americans, many Mexican Americans are good people who possess a deep faith in Almighty God. Therefore they deserve to be treated with compassion & respect. In addition, we should double or triple the number of immigrants allowed on an annual basis with our friends from Mexico.
We must not forget that it is only with great difficulty & through hard work at low-paying jobs few other Americans want that many Mexicans eventually become citizens of the United States. It truly a blessing that so many Mexicans seek the opportunities the USA offers, & we should be honored to receive them in greater numbers into our country.
I was wondering, since all these illegal mexican crimminals are such good people, why is the country they come from such a crap hole? Surely all these "good people" vastly outnumber the bad, and therefore should be able to create a wonderfull, peacefull socialist utopia in Mexico, no? What, with all of USA's industry relocated to Mexico, it should be a communists dream world.

I have no doubt that many mexicans are good people. It is the ones who are here ILLEGALLY that I have doubts about. The local newspaper ran a headline that homicides were about double from this time last year and proceeded to give names of those involved—most of the names were hispanic. Of course, it didn’t mention wether they were here legally or not—I wonder why.
No one is saying the Mexican’s are Not Good People.What we’re saying is that the Mexicans belong in Mexico,unless they wish to come here legally and become an American Citizen. Otherwise they should stay home.

The issue isn't whether Mexicans are "good" or "bad": the issue is whether we want our country to be overwhelmed by an alien langauge, culture and value system. We have significant parts of our country that have become a completely different nation and those parts are staying that way, not becoming American.
Illegal immigration is exactly that - illegal. People willing to break laws to get into this country are starting off with criminal activities, a very good definition of "bad".
Our government refuses to see that the only solution is to seal the damn border and THEN talk about what we do with the mass of invaders we have on our hands. (Learning english would be an important start).
I have lost all faith in President Bush with his lackluster leadership in this issue.

So what??? If they come here in violation of our laws, they're simply criminals. All the tap-dancing around with semantics doesn't change that. Arrest them and deport them.

Nobody has advocated amnesty. We are all human beings and should be judged as individuals.
Those people like Rush L, whom I mostly adore, have no idea what it’s like to have a family to feed and no way to provide. Any hard working person here, faced with starving children, would do the same.
I don’t agree with amnesty, would like Bush’s program, and also want to secure the border. Is that so bad? Why so much venom and hostility when speaking about other human beings.
If that were you, some of these posters were talking about, you would also find it creepy and think very poorly of the integrity of some of these posters.
If immigration is our party’s primary issue, we are doomed. There are many conservatives like myself, who feel it is morally wrong not to be compassionate. If you do feel strongly against it, try and express yourselves in a humane manner. Otherwise we all look bad.
Okay, don't call it amnesty but that's what it is. What else would you call not punishing millions of people that invaded our country?
"We must not forget" a whole bunch o' things, including "There but for the grace of God, yatta yatta...." But them Mexicans (not all of whom are Mexicans, BTW -- what a dolt!) are law-breakers, which kinda messes up the "good people" argument.
This is so obviously a case of mercy being shown to one group (los illegales) ending up being harsh injustice being inflicted on other groups.
The proble with a religion which lets anyone in is that you get some real tofu-for-brains kumbaya types.

Mr. Bemowski is making a really pitiful attempt at confusing the issue. We are not talking about Mexican-Americans, which implies Americans of a particular ethnic background. The immigration debate centers upon illegal aliens, who are not Mexican Americans, but citizens of other countries, some from Mexico, others from various places.
Sure, some Mexicans [sic] are good people, some are not; what does that have to do with the debate? All of those illegal aliens have their own countries that are responsible for them. The United States cannot take care of the world, no matter how much our politicians want to try to build a legacy by attempting such.

Sorry, but when I see them flying our flag up side down on our land, I can’t really think of Mexicans as being good.
And I’d like to buy the world a Coke, and live in harmony. However, my local market is flooded with illegals trying to buy formula for their multiple anchor babies, so I can’t make the purchase.
