Yes, you are correct. The Shiite Mahdi Militia (backed by Iran) is named for the Mahdi.
It’s important to note this:
Both the Sunnis and the Shiites have identical beliefs concerning the Mahdi EXCEPT for this one critical difference..
The Sunnis are more passive in their conviction about when he will come..
The Shiites are absolutely convinced that they must do some world-chaos-creating destruction in order to cause him to manifest
but once he comes.. they all agree on the same things afterward.
That is why Iran is racing to nuclear capiblity.. they will use that capiblity to cause a global catastrophe so horrendous that Allah will send the Mahdi to restore justice and order.

I never had that wish though i had the conviction i would be around for it.
I never felt dred or anxiety about it because it was always sort of abstract but in the past year or so, i’’m actually “feeling it”.. i have such fear for the world... end time or not.. the future (and very soon) is going to be about the coming of a dark age on this planet.
how long it lasts , if it’s actually biblical prophecy is besides the point (for me anyway).. this muslim problem is not going away until there are no more muslims.

But the way the system works here as well as on the other talk show threads, is if the chief threadmaster can't show up he informs the backups which currently are myself, Rock or Fishtank, and one of us will then do it. That's to avoid duplicate or triplicate threads which occur when any and everyone decides they want to start the thread.
The past two threads this system has completely broken down as Tark is nowhere to be found and has not informed any of the backups beforehand he wouldn't be here, actually late on Friday's thread he said he would in fact be here Monday. So without any definite word on what's going on with Tark, no one knows if and exactly when he'll be back and no backups have been requested, so technically the thread is on its own, more succinctly it's a Threadmaster-less thread, until further notice.
We ended up with a duplicate on Friday and almost had one today as I was just about ready to post it when Rock's showed up at the last minute. If Tark doesn't show up tomorrow we will have to convene the Savage Nation and figure out what we're going to do. Of course you're always welcome to volunteer for double duties as the TSN Queen and the new TSN Thread-Mistress. :-o
One option is to assign a different person to do it each day, like they do at the FReeper Canteen.
We'll have to see as there is only a few of us that even show up early on the thread any given day much less show up on the thread on a regular basis.
