I don’t favor government censorship of the media, but there are limits in time of war. The idea that the media can slant the news because of personal reasons, i.e., the welfare of their sons, is despicable and shouldn’t be tolerated. These media types were not elected by anyone to make policy nor are they accountable to anyone. I would be in favor of prosecution charging them with aiding and abetting the enemy. The government may lose, but it sends a shot across the bow.
This is right up their with Eason Jordan’s admission that he had covered for Saddam in order to maintain access. Astonishing, and yet not surprising.
