9/11 was 8 years after the first WTC bombing.

DO NOT underestimate the patience of Al Qaeda. Dirtheadsama’s favorite recitation reportedly is “Out/overpatience patience itself” and is recited daily in AQ training/prayers.

It is very, very reasonable to assume by 2010 they will be ready.

9-11 was some special date in history for the mooselimbs.
From what i hear all important things to them are in regards historical.
Thus they await some date with special meaning to them.
When that date comes and they launch their efforts they will explain.

Pretty stupid but then hey if you lived in the eighth century?

Look, I’m sorry, but I can’t get that all excited about this supposed worse case scenario. First of all the writer states that the Implosion device is the most sophisticated of all devices. He is assuming that the nanosecond timing can be achieved by these muzzies. Hell Korea couldn’t do better than a “fizzle”.

Another thing. . .48 devices in this country?! That sounds like hyperbole to jack up sales for this book. This all sounds like a wild wet dream on the part of the author.

Just how big does anyone thing that a 20 Kiloton bomb would be?? Any guesses? Sure we have warheads that will fit in the back of a truck, but it is not an easy thing to set of one of our warheads. Korea’s warhead was about the size of a 18wheeler trailer. I sincerely doubt that 48 nuclear bombs and all of the accompanying support personnel and resources could be hidden too long.

On a BS meter; I give this a 7. There may be some discussing and wishing similar to the JFK fuel demolition, but actual threat of 48 bombs here and this country in imminent danger; 70 8 on the CS scale out of a possible 10.

This sounds more like the network nightly news where you don’t see a story unless it is designed to frighten you and you are told that there is a crisis.

The possibility of detection by a hostile (to A-Q) is very high, and Israel or the US or maybe England would go all out to “neutralize” it if they thought there was one.

Ahem, Jack Bauer is a TV character.

As for our current Department of Homeland Security , I wouldn't depend on them to find their own a** with both hands!!!

If you blow up this country with nukes, who is going to be around to give the order against whom???

our troops found in a cave outside of Khandahar in Afghanistan a canister filled with Uranium 238 [the basic ingredient for a nuclear bomb]

U-238 is depleted uranium. We use that stuff in tank and other ammunition when you really want to punch through armor. U-235 is enriched uranium you use to fuel reactors and make bombs. If the author doesn't know the difference, then he probably has no idea about anything else he's writing about.

yellow cake [pure uranium, dried].

NOT! It's uranium oxide, U3O8, not uranium metal, and that's a Good Thing. A step or three farther from UF6 which is what is generally used during the enrichment process.

“our troops found in a cave outside of Khandahar in Afghanistan a canister filled with Uranium 238 [the basic ingredient for a nuclear bomb]”

Uranium 238 is not the basic ingredient for a nuclear bomb. U238 is generally called ‘depleted Uranium’ because the fissionable U235 has been removed.

9/11 is an anniversary of the western calendar, but according to the Islamic calender, the anniversary of 9/11 will occur on July 8th.

One possible explanation would be the knowledge that US submarines alone could and would eliminate Mecca and Medina within 24 hours of a nuke explosion in America.

If a couple of nukes went off in the U.S., I suspect our response would be much larger than that. Our nuclear subs could take out every major city in all Islamic countries while leaving plenty in reserve in case the Chinese or Russians take exception to our actions.

I know it is unwise to underestimate your enemies but the logistical problems of placing and maintaining 48 nukes in the U.S. without detection would be mind boggling. This doesn't pass the smell test.

11 Sept 1683 is the date that Islam’s 2nd Jihad against the Europe was defeated.

11 Sept 2001 is the date that the Islam’s 3rd Jihad became manifest

According to the Mossad people I spoke to, it was in excess of 10 kilotons. It could have taken out all of Israel in the blink of an eye. If one of these babies went off with 10 kilotons, first of all you'd have the conventional explosion, which if it occurred at the site of 9/11, would take out all of lower Manhattan. From that would come a fireball that would be about 750 feet in diameter — the core would reach a temperature of 10 million degrees Celsius, which means in the blink of an eye everything would disintegrate. After that would come juggernaut blasts ripping through the city with winds in excess of 640 miles per hour, and after that would come the mushroom cloud and the radioactive fallout that would spew into the five boroughs of New York, into Connecticut and New Jersey. The end result is that millions would be dead.

10 KT would not destroy all of Israel. Blast radius for a ground level 10 KT explosion is about 1/3 mile of total destruction, 3/4 mile for major structural damage and 1 mile for major fires. 10KT is smaller than either the Hiroshima (15 KT) or Nagsaki bombs(21 KT), both of those were airbursts, which give a larger blast radious, and less secondary radiation effects too. The distances for various amounts of overpressure for a 10KT ground burst are:

15 psi: 0.71 miles
5 psi: 1.3 miles
2 psi: 2.28 miles
1 psi: 3.37 miles
0.25 psi: 8.63 miles
0.1 psi: 17.68 miles
(Information from HYDESim (Map for Lower Manhattan, which would indeed be wiped out by a 10 KT ground burst.

I think countries hesitate to attack each other. If a country knew that a group without a specific country affiliation had a nuke, the constraints on response would be much less. Clinton’s attack on the terrorist camps is an example (it didn’t go well because of security breaches, but at least Tomahawks were launched).

A group like A-Q does not have the assets to protect something like a nuke, compared to what Korea has, or the US. They also don’t have good access to “national technical means” so that they really can’t be sure of how well the operation is hidden.

If they had a well-defended bunker with good security inside and out, it would be pretty visible in a number of ways. Taking it out would also be visible and hard for a nation to deny.

If they have it stashed in an old warehouse on the edge of town with a lookout up the street, it’s pretty vulnerable and it could be taken down without a lot of fuss for a country, and fairly easy to deny.

Funny, that doesn't look like a misspelling of "World Net Daily".

Do Jihadis care if their lands receive a retailatory strike? Well, lets ask one..
We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land [Iran] burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world.

- Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Khomeini, Holy City of Qom 1980

How would Muslims view dying in the context of destroying the Great Satan in nuclear fire? Well lets see how they react to their guarenteed death in fire when going after the Little Satan:
After decades of struggle the Palestinians are convinced that they have finally discovered Israel's Achilles' heel. Ismail Haniya, another Hamas leader, was quoted in March of last year in The Washington Post as saying that Jews "love life more than any other people, and they prefer not to die." In contrast, suicide terrorists are often said to have gone to their deaths smiling. An Israeli policeman told me, "A suicide bomber goes on a bus and finds himself face-to-face with victims and he smiles and he activates the bomb—but we learned that only by asking people afterwards who survived." This is what is known in the Shia Islamic tradition as the bassamat al-farah, or "smile of joy"—prompted by one's impending martyrdom. It is just as prevalent among Sunni terrorists. (Indeed, the last will and testament of Mohammed Atta, the ringleader of the September 11 hijackers, and his "primer" for martyrs, The Sky Smiles, My Young Son, clearly evidence a belief in the joy of death.)

You read that? They're f'ing smiling right before they cause explosives to destroy their own bodies.

After they nuke the US, i'm sure the survivors will be comforted by many of you people's ambivilence.
