I live in a small town in North Alabama, and I’d be willing to bet that a full 10% of our population is illegal immigrants. Same with the other small towns (and larger ones) around here. My guess is that there are 150,000 illegal immigrants in Alabama.
Looks like someone is trying to minimize the problem.
I think you are right. It takes a while for opposition to organize protests and the like . . . especially when the opponents are conservative and are not employed by issue groups that are always ready to leave work (with pay) for a protest.
