Cornyn seems to have been very strategic on this whole thing. Instead of just coming out against the bill, he is offering up amendments that will either kill it, or fix a lot of issues. The Felon piece, for example was brilliant because it is also tied to an increase push to crack down on identity theft and tax fraud. Combined, both would make almost all illegals ineligible for zzzzVisas..
Free Republic mention!
I gave as much as I can remember. He was only on for a few minutes. Jeff Sessions and John Cornyn will be remembered as heroes.
I was busy on the phone. Did she really mention FR?
CALL AND THANK HIM

Semantic null as far as the content of the email is concerned. If he thought he could get away with it, he'd have supported the bill.
Thanks...
However, there were several other key Senators in this, too, apparently. Take a look at the writeup here:

[In a Parliamentary maneuver, DeMint DENIED unanimous consent to bring amendments to a vote.] While DeMint was gumming up the works, the opponents of the bill, including most prominently Jim DeMint, Jeff Sessions, and Tom Coburn, huddled and came up with a list of conservative amendments they wanted considered.
Sounds like there are quite a few heros for conservatives to rejoice in right now.
However, I’m still expecting this to come back. The President REALLY wants a guest worker program.
Good idea. By the way, I heard you on the radio a while back-good for you!
I feel the same way about Chambliss and Isakson. I believe Chambliss was trying to support the President and deal with a difficult issue. However, you can not ignore the people that put you in office. I told his office over and over again. I understand that Sen. Chambliss wants to address this issue...but you were elected to represent the people of Georgia-please do so ASAP by not supporting the Amnesty bill.
Chambliss and a few others stuck their neck out on this AGAINST THE WISHES OF the people he represents.
He will pay a price for this.
I’ve been on a few times. :) Maybe about 2,000.
I am impressed-wow! I didnt’ know that.
Yes-I hear ( I don’t know who this might be) that someone who is staunchly anti-amnesty will challenge Chambliss in the primaries. You know though, Chambliss was out there. At least, he was honest. That little weasel Isakson was in hiding; he planned to vote for this also.
Dorgan's sunset amendment is what killed the bill and 11 republicans voted for that amendment. Corker, Bunning, Dole, DeMint, Enzi, Sessions, Shelby, Sununu, Thune, Vitter, & Inhofe.
Cornyn voted against the amendment.
“At least, he was honest.”
Honest? Chambliss not only was for this nonsense, he was one of the “Secret Negoiators” doing the peoples business behind closed doors. Is that what you call honest? Not doing the peoples business in full transpaarancy?
What I am saying is that he came out for the bill, stood with the President in Georgia and promoted the bill...Isakson is a sneak. He had every intention of voting for this bill, his office said ‘Johnny came to Washington to deal with this issue’ etc. I don’t like Chambliss. I won’t vote for him unless it’s between him and a Democrat. Remember,in the end Chamblis and Isakson voted down cloture.
