Poverty campaigner Bob Geldof has condemned leaders of the G8 nations for coming up with a deal on Africa which he says is a "farce". He praised Tony Blair, who he said had "gone down all guns blazing" in an effort to get the eight nations to deliver on previous aid commitments.
But he said he also felt sorry for the out-going PM as he had secured "no legacy stuff" in the two-day talks.
And he launched a strongly-worded attack on the other summit leaders.
At a joint press conference with fellow rock star and Live8 organiser, Bono, Mr Geldof said: "When richer nations so flagrantly view pledges as disposable, if they become too inconvenient, their ability to urge the leaders of the poorest countries to stick with difficult changes is much reduced.
"This is seen throughout the world, throughout any shape of politics, where people talk about numbers or the poor, as a nonsense.
"I won't have it spun as anything else, except a farce."

Get your unelected, non-American fingers out of my wallet, Sir Bob.
Positively staggering delusions of grandeur.
Asking government to confiscate hard earned dollars just so they can be pi$$ed away on useless "anti-poverty" programs is immoral.
Does Geldof dodge his taxes like Bono?
The ‘Dark Continent’ is almost as big a black hole for money as the Department of Education.
Earth to Bob: Only Africans can solve Africa’s problems.
Give Africa nothing until they get new leadership.
Sending anything to these criminals running these countries is a waste. The people who need it see such a small portion that it is only wasteful.
Bob Geldorf is such a twit. At lease Bono gives credit to the US for contributing.
Hey Bob: NOBODY LIKES A WHINER!
Sir Bob is a pompous twit.
Geldof’s last gig sold 45 seats out of a 12,000 seat arena in Italy. Quite funny:
It’s a tragedy, a travesty and .. and .. and .. poor Paris...!
Whose the farce, Geldof?
Nic pic of Paris.
G8 was for show. The deals were struck at Bilderburger last week.
How do you like she was planning a party for herself when she went to house arrest? “I`m like free! So like let`s like party! Yaaa!” Just for that the Judge should given her life lol!
The limo libs don’t get it. If they really wanted to help they should try free market solutions. A few years ago when the Amazon Rain Forest was the cause of the moment, various do gooders were running around whining.
The Grateful Dead had what I felt was a good approach, they held concerts and used the ticket proceeds and donations to buy pieces of the Rain Forest and deed it trust to the local tribes occupying the land. Good rational free market solution.
Heroin chic went out with the 60's, silly git.
I’m not a Dead fan, but I gained a lot of respect for Jerry Garcia, when they supported the Lithuanian Basketball team after they gained their independence from the Soviet Union.
