WAY TO GO, FREEMA!!!
Don’s quite right:
As parents of Marines we need to get involved now and get training on how we can support our Defenders “before” they get into trouble. There are definite ways to counter the accusations and charges. And believe me parents can be the best Third Base Coaches.
“As an example, on Capt. Jeff’s first 18 hour interrogation I told him to turn his phone to vibrate. “I will call you Jeff.” He said “Dad I won’t be able to answer the phone.” I said, I don’t expect you to answer, but when it vibrates against your leg you will know that I am right there with you and you aren’t there by yourself. Not alone is one of the most important things that we can do for them. And Dads can do it best.”
I think I’m going to make hubby take me for a ride every day this week. And if he doesn’t, I’ll get on the dang thing and drive it myself.
If I was a little younger, I would be with him on the trip!
Go with God!
Semper Fi!
Hey, Red, any chance the North County Times might cover the Haditha Marine Riders when they roll into Camp Pendleton on June 28?
Let your cool rider do the drivin! You just sit back and do the "secret" motorcycle wave. The best to Don and his journey!
That’s an excellent question. Mark Walker knows about the event so fingers are crossed.
BTW, Don is a retired Public Affairs officer so he knows how to work the press.
Hey, Debbie! Have a look! Rumor has it you might be meeting up with Don & Co. in Sacramento.
Don’s in friendly country today. Many people in the Grants Pass, Rogue River and Medford area support our military. When we lived in the area, recruiters never had a problem meeting their goals.
Any idea how far Grant’s Pass is from Roseburg? I was trying to look it up but having ‘puter problems.
It’s 65 miles and a beautiful drive. Three mountain passes but not real high. I-5 makes it an easy ride. Timbered mountains and small grassy valleys.

You win!
His toughest day will be his last day. It’s the longest ride and most of it through central CA is flat farm and ranch land with not much to look at. It gets very hot this time of year in the valley.
There, fixed it for me. Sorry, with all due respect to you, W has not lifted a finger for these Marines, and, in fact, early on said some prejudicial things to hurt their case. Voted for the man twice, but he lost me with his comments about these Marines, his PC war in general, and the final straw, open borders and amnesty. Not even Jimmy Carter was this bad.

That’s the San Joaquin Valley? I noticed that on the map. It seems really thin between the San Francisco-Modesto area and Bakersfield.
Yes, it’s the San Joaquin Valley and it’s really sparse. There are many offramps with services now and has been for a number of years.
When I-5 was first completed and for several years after, the services were few and far between. California Highway Patrol carried 5 gallon gas cans with them for those stupid enough to run out of gas and there were many.
It’s that way till you get to the mountain range south of Bakersfield and start up the hill. That stretch over the mountains before you drop down into the LA basin is still referred to by many as the Ridge Route.
