No, Mr. Cold Warrior. Croatia left because it wanted a state of it’s own. Yugoslavia was basically always a fragile ethnic hodgepodge, and the only two things really holding it together was dictatorial control, and fear of a possible Soviet invasion, ala Czechsolakia, 1968. Montenegro left because it felt that it would be more likely to get into the EU if it was independent. And some Montenegrin supporters of independence had, shall we say, less altruistic motives.
