• Boyfriend left heartbroken by death

  A father of a 20-year-old woman who was killed and buried in a suitcase under a patio was today found guilty of her murder.

  Banaz Mahmod was strangled in a so-called "honour" killing after her family disapproved of her relationship with her boyfriend.

  	Banaz Mahmod had told police she feared for her life

  Her father Mahmod Mahmod and his brother Ari Mahmod ordered the murder because they believed she had shamed the family.

  A number of police officers are facing an internal disciplinary investigation over the handling of the case after it emerged that Miss Mahmod had told police four times that she feared for her life.

  She even wrote a letter naming those she thought would do it - one of whom later admitted his part in the killing.

  In footage recorded following an earlier attempt on her life by her father in December 2005, she said she was "really scared".

  Miss Mahmod fled home but later went back to her family and tried to carry on her relationship with boyfriend Rahmat Sulemani in secret.

  But when the couple were discovered and Mr Sulemani was threatened by her uncle's associates, Miss Mahmod contacted police again.

  She was urged to stay at a safe house but told officers she believed she would be all right at home because her mother was there.

  Miss Mahmod disappeared the following January and her decomposed body was discovered in Handsworth, Birmingham, three months later.

  Today Mahmod, 52, and Ari, 51, both from Mitcham, south London, were found guilty of murder following a trial lasting nearly three months.

  Mohamad Hama, 30, of West Norwood, south London, an associate of Ari, has already pleaded guilty to the murder.

  Darbaz Maref-Rasull, 24, of Hounslow, west London, was cleared of conspiracy to pervert justice. Ari was convicted of the charge.

  Pshtewan Hama, 26, also of Hounslow, has already pleaded guilty on the same count.

According to the article and video, she felt safe because her mother was also at the home, and police say that couldn't do more because she refused their offers of protection.

To be fair, if this happened here in the USA there would probably have been no difference in the outcome because they offered her protection but she refused.

In such a situation, police have no legal ability to force a legally sane and law-abiding person to abide by their recommendations.

What I find peculiar about this is that the Brits bothered to find them guilty of murder. It is the logical extension of their multicultural capitulation to the Muslims.

How far of a leap of [perverted] logic is it to go from banning pinup girls on Brit fighters to letting the muzzies practice their religion killing wayward adult children? No very far at all.

And if the investigation shows that mistakes were made,  I hope that the appropriate punishments are meted out.  An investigation is standard procedure in such a situation and is not a declaration of guilt.

A legally sane and law-abiding person has the last word in matters such as this.

This tragedy is not the fault of the police. They didn't have any legal reason to take her father or uncle into custody, or charge them with any crime. She should have taken their advice and stayed away from the murderous bastards; maybe she'd be alive today. Her poor mother obviously didn't have any control over the situation.

Mahmod Mahmod = Mohammed Mohammed.

An article posted here a few days ago said that if you take into acount about 16 or 17 different spellings, Mohammed is now the second most popular boy’s name in England.

I pointed out that there were actually more different spellings than the ones the article listed, including Mehmet and Mehmed. I think that Mahmod is yet another, at least it’s the first I’ve noticed it. It wouldn’t surprise me if Mohammed was already top of the list. And maybe soon Mohammed will pass Smith as the most popular last name, too.

Going to be hard to look people up in the phone book when everyone in the country is named Mohammed M. Mohammed.

It’s probably standard operating procedure to ‘launch an investigation’ if there is a media outcry about the story. But it sounds like the police did all that they could legally do. Of course, that won’t stop some in the media from screaming about them.

In numerous cases of these so-called "honor killings", the female members of the family are actually accomplices helping the killers. I recall seeing one case on Court TV in Missouri where both father and mother were tried, convicted and sentenced to death for something similar (although no executions have been, nor will be carried out, the father have died of cancer prior to his execution, and the mother's sentence being commuted...)

Banaz Mahmod ran away from home when she was a teenager but returned when her father sent her an audio tape in which he warned he would kill her sisters, her mother and himself if she did not come home, her sister said.

She was later hospitalized after her brother attacked her, the sister told the court. The brother said he had been paid by their father to finish her off but in the end was unable to do it, said the sister, who testified in a full black burqa. She said she still feared for her own life.

The years of Banaz Mahmod's abuse were compounded by police officers who repeatedly dismissed her cries for help.

She first went to police in December 2005, saying she suspected her uncle was trying to kill her and her boyfriend. She sent police a letter naming the men who she thought would later kill her.

On New Year's Eve, she was lured by her father to her grandmother's home, where she suspected he planned to attack her after he forced her to gulp down brandy and approached her while wearing gloves. She escaped by breaking a window and was treated at a hospital.

Police dismissed her suspicions, and one officer, who is under investigation, considered charging her with damages for breaking her grandmother's window."
