Bush said. "The status quo is unacceptable." He is right BUT that is because the current laws are not being enforced. WHERE'S THE FENCE!!! If you cannot enforce the current laws, then how will you enforce a convoluted bill such as the one proposed?
If we cannot define and protect our country's borderlines, then how can we as individuals be assured that our own property lines will be honored.

Bush, you have all the laws you need to enforce the borders. Get on with it already.

"Set up an Ellis Island of the Southwest in Arizona or New Mexico to deal with entry from Mexico." It needs to be set up in Meheco, mi amigo! About 200 miles from the border ... let Mehicans use their pesos to pay for it! While we are at it any aid money coming from the U.S. to Meheco needs to be diverted to fund the fence!

We don't need amnesty to solve the illegal problem. All we have to do is ENFORCE existing laws! Jorge W. is dense beyond help. He needs to admit there's a problem. But surrender as he advocates it, is NOT the solution.

On second thought you’re not strong enough for the effort.

BigFinn you could post this info a thousand times and it still does not sink in. Bush is taking orders. He is an action item on some agenda to open North America into one big mess.

You have nailed it: the president is holding border enforcement hostage to his broader goals.
I’m not buying it. I want border enforcement first. Without that he has no credibility on anything more.

To: Shermy; All
When it comes to border enforcement, Bush is and has been a chronic liar. He has all the tools necessary for 100% border enforcement. It’s called Executive Order. Just like the EO he pulled on May 9th...anointing himself King Jorge.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/05/20070509-12.html
All he has to do is blather on about the WOT, declare a national emergency...and enforce current laws.
He doesn’t need the House, the Senate, Congress or anyone else in government.

Speaking of which, what is stopping him and the federal government from doing both right now, new bill or no new bill? It’s already the law!

In the words of a certain declared Presidential candidate, another option would be to simply enforce the laws that we already have...

...what is stopping him and the federal government from doing both right now,...
They don't want to enforce laws on the books. They don't want to interfere with illegal immigration...the proof of that is the fact that going on 6 years since 9-11, our borders are still not secured.
Bush is an open-borders corporatist, plain and simple.

Ok, I know I’m not a lawyer, but don’t we have laws NOW to enforce the border and workplace?
