* The production workers at Fresh Del Monte are actually employees of American Staffing Resources, Inc. This is a common tactic by large corporations, use some temp agency as the 'front' for this, so they can claim plausible deniability. That's what Wal-Mart did with its cleaning staff a couple of years ago.

Yes, they lease employees. This way they don’t pay benefits directly. It is a little confusing. Many times the companies are even incorporated offshore and then they open affiliates around other states.
I’ve tried to figure this out several times; but, like I said, it gets confusing.
