Walter Reed FReep #112 June 8, 2007 "Snot is running down his nose!"

Honor roll: Bill from Olney*, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Mr & Mrs Trooprally, kristinn, Fraxinus, VAFlagWaver, Laura Bush*, Bob (Walter Reed patient), George* and Ethel*, Albion Wilde, Chad, tgslTakoma, Chris* and Bruce*, OlneyKeith, BillF, OhioSA and Jere* (* lurkers)
| When we first got there the weather didn't look too bad. We knew rain was moving into the area but I thought it would blow over within a short period of time. I was wrong. Most of the picture were taken before 9:00 pm. About that time the steady rain turned into a torrent. We sought refuge in our cars and waited for the bus. We were visited by 2 soldiers stationed at Walter Reed. They came over to visit because they wanted to let us know how much they appreciated what we were doing. Of course we let them know we appreciated them more. Then they said, "No, we appreciate you more!" Then we said, "No, we appreciate you more!" Then they said, "No, we appreciate you more!" Just when we about to say "No..." they got a couple of us under their arms in a headlock and said, "Who appreciates who |

more?" "You do! You do!", we said. Then we had cookies and pizza. They talked a little about their tour in Iraq. One just got back from Ramadi and said most of the fighting is still going on in Falujah (sp). They said when they get back to work they're going to let all their buddies know about our Friday night rallies at the front gate.

Another good freep--another great report!
All of you are so appreciated! You are there for all of us who can't be. You're there in all sorts of weather--from extreme cold to extreme heat---hail and high water, rain, wind--whatever is thrown at you!
Those injured heroes at WRMC are so blessed to have you there to help raise their morale, and to prove how much the American public is thankful to have them.

Hey, Buford! Don't you read
anything that I ping you to?Sheesh! I made a promise to Freeper "Incorrigible" that he and his daughter would make the Honor Roll, for going above and beyond, putting their lives at risk in a DC cab - in a monster thunderstorm - to get to WRAMC to Freep with us, but (wimps that we are) we had taken cover in our vehicles as the storm overtook our position.
Please add "Incorrigible" and "daughterofIncorrigible" to the Honor Roll.
And pay attention when I ping you, for criminy sakes!
To: BufordP
No problem Buford, I’m just yanking you a bit.
I’m hoping now that my daughter is old enough to like sightseeing that we’ll be back. She was very excited by the prospect of holding a sign and flag and supporting the troops. (Even though she’s developing a pre-teen too cool to hang around with my parents attitude!)

BUFORD P says he is so sorry he is going to buy you a new car! I think that’s what he said...anyway.

They had the bus out there one other time. I can't remember what week it was.
The bus is not parked in front of them. It's parked a few feet down from their perp line.

putting their lives at risk in a DC cab LOL! When we were travelling down Georgia to the hotel the cab's windshield wipers got stuck on the side of the windshield! He had them on super-high! We had to stop and he was able to unstick them but for a moment there, it was just a waterfall in front of the driver's face!

Eyeing little girls with bad intent brings to my mind one or more of the Clintons first and then the Jethro Tull song.

I guess all y’all are in training to be on-site broadcasters for the Weather channel! I think the only weather conditions you haven’t endured during a WRAMC freep are a tsunami and a hamsin. (Here’s a link about the second: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamsin). Thanks again to all who were there—especially those who came by DC cab!
To: JoyjoyfromNJ
Fortunately for our insurance rates I believe we have also avoided Hail. Fortunately I think this Friday will have good weather.
According to NWS:
Friday: A slight chance of showers after 11am. Cloudy, with a high near 71. North wind between 3 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

And thanks for the AAR. Now I need to get writing Olney's.
