I'm a disabled vet. I get care at the VA and I get a check every month. If you asked me for my VA card, you would be out of luck. The VA doen't issue cards. Maybe they did at one time, I don't know.
No I don't stop and talk to homeless people. The ones that come up and talk to me are nuts or stoned.

I’ve NEVER heard of a Veteran who did not have a VA ID card ! They started removing the S.S. numbers about two years ago and began placing our picture, or photo, on the cards about 7 years ago as I recall with a bar code as well.
* Too bad you ran into what you considered the ‘bad element’ of homeless people, but judging from your comment; you did ask if they were Veterans—did you? I couldn’t turn my back on a Veteran, even the drunks and druggies need help, which I may not be the one to extend that sort of help to them.

No Sir you don't! I have an app Thur. and have never had a stupid card. I go to Dallas, Bobham and the Denton clinic. No cards at any of them. Check your facts.

We all as a matter of course, stand in line holding them, but you don’t? I have also been to the Denton clinic, the Fort Worth clinic and the really big hospital down in Waco, and *they all* asked me for the ID card.
You didn’t click on the link I provided above? It’s the actual VA website man!
The Web Master herein highlighted that VA link so all members could feel safe and click on it, so I suppose he/she trusted it enough to include it.
But if you want to declare that you never had a card; that’s fine. But are you stating *as a fact,* that VA ID cards do not exist?
BTW: when you were accosted by those Veterans you said were nuts, how did you know that they were nuts, and how did you know they were Veterans?
This is an interesting point or issue, that many non-Veteran people may have. Surely they don’t think that those guys in New York, New Orleans or Anywhere, USA who run up and spray your car windshield at a red light are Veterans?
Gads. What a world if they are under that assumption. Very few of the thousands of Veterans I have spoken to and heard from would ever fall victim to such degrading of the spirit.
If so, they certainly are the ones who are the most ill and are worthy of much concern.
We were told as far back as boot camp, “You NEVER leave a man behind.”
It’s a credo of all branches of the Service. It always seemed logical, at least to me, that it applies to Veterans.
Perhaps you feel differently. If so, you have my sympathy.

That is just not correct, to put it nicely. I have gone to VA for years with no damn card. They ask my name and the last 4 of my SSN. I have no card, was never asked to show a card, and never saw anyone else with a card.

Excuse you, but I don’t like being called a lair, even if by other words, like, “No sir. That’s not the case.”
You obviously refuse to at least click on the link that goes straight to the VA’s website that discusses how *all* Veterans who enter *any* medical clinic or VA hospital MUST present their VA ID card in order to be seen.
You, apparently, make up your own exceptions to the rules, and when you ask for proof and that proof is provided, you try to joke you way through a serious topic.
As far as I am concerned, and hopefully others herein, there is no more reason to answer to your replies. Case closed.
If you are are a patient as you state you are, I do hope that you get the help you need.

* Yes, if you are in need of health care for you and or your wife and family, you need to apply. Click on the link I posted above that takes you directly to the VA website where you can apply on the Web, or safer still; you can call them.
Exception is a Dishonorable discharge.
Of course, as you learned from boot camp to active service: it’s ‘hurry up and wait’ but you can have free Rxs and some health care.

Actually, we are in litigation for ‘service-connection,’ as I did some covert duty and was injured.
My main problem is either way: my benefits from both VA and Soc. Sec. add to less than $900.00 per month.
Paying a monthly note and then light, gas and water bills would eat that up and there would be nothing left for food supplies and the like.
I drove the same Jeep for 14 years until it blew the engine 6 months ago, and had it not been trading my 1873 Colt SAA, I wouldn’t have been able to get a car. It was almost an even trade.
As I’ve mentioned, I beat a wheelchair but prolonged sitting and standing I can’t do. I’m not supposed to even change a tire or mop a floor, and yet, I am not bitter. The real heroes didn’t return home, so I consider myself fortunate, although, sometimes not so blessed.
It's just degrading, although a blessing to HAVE to live with relatives. I did have a life until 1985 when I was re-injured for life as I have humble myself in relating, although I did that because I am not alone in this, and I guess it is pride that keeps us away from Food Stamps. I cannot get them even if I swallowed my pride as get this: they said that $900.00 a month exceeded their limit. Anyway, I think it wise to go ahead and register for your VA card now, and then if you or your wife ever needs health care, then you’ll be ahead of the game. If you do see private doctors who order a ct/scan or an MRI and you have a co-pay; do go to the VA as it is no cost to you and no co-pay.

Tonight I went to the ‘jobsforjoes.com’ website and tried to register.
The website showed ONLY the logo up top and the various links, such as members login and registry of new members. I clicked on register, but then another blank page came up as the Home page did. I then tried my Firefox browser and the same thing happened. I did notice that the last three digits were ‘php’ instead of ‘htm’ or html. Perhaps because I have a computer made in 1995 with Windows 98, it would not download this website. Not even the ‘contact us’ would work. Every attempt brought up a blank page except for the top logo and areas to click on.
I did go to 3rsearch.com where I tried to register there as well, and after wards, they stated that an email would be sent to me to complete the resisting. That never came, so I tried again. Nothing still.
Am I doing something wrong, or do I not have XP as the reason, if you know?
Nevertheless, thanks for your suggestions. I hope that others who have read your post will be able to get through where I could not.
