Pastors,Christians, Jews, Muslims and others: Just keep your mouth shut

A bill in Congress makes it a crime for pastors and churches to speak against homosexuality

If pastors and other Christians don’t aggressively oppose a bill now in Congress, in the near future they will be subject to huge fines and prison terms if they say anything negative about homosexuality.

The proposed law would make it a crime to preach on Romans Chapter 1 or I Corinthians Chapter 6. Or even to discuss them in a Sunday School class. If churches and individuals want to keep the government from telling them what they can and cannot preach and teach about homosexuality, they better get involved now!

House bill H.R. 1592 and Senate bill S. 1105 would make negative statements concerning homosexuality, such as calling the practice of homosexuality a sin from the pulpit, a “hate crime” punishable by law. This dangerous legislation would take away your freedom of speech and your freedom of religion. Consider what has already happened:

This was posted earlier but the URL was incorrect. Sorry! This is important enough to affect all of us on the FreeRepublic. Hate is evil and no one should engage in it. It is not necessary to judge or condemn any group, God will do that. No one should alter His word. If, of course, there is no God why worry? Everyone just do what seems right to them in their own eyes!

Next step is stopping churches from teaching morality. It is offensive to those who don’t keep a moral code.

This is the third thread I have seen on this. I have skimmed through the legislation, and though I am not a lawyer, I saw no speech restrictions in it. I don’t see Wildmon making a case about it.

Yeah you’re right. Kind of like RICO not being used to staunch anti-abortion protests. Yep; that was only for racketeering. There probably isn’t a lick in it saying this law can be used against pro-life people.

Agreed. Unless the preacher is beating someone while preaching at the pulpit because he thinks they are a practicing homosexual.

The fellow who plays “Magneto” in the X-men, Ian something, I understand whenever he stays at a hotel, he pulls out the complimentary Bible and rips out the book of Leviticus, or at least the passages against homosexuality. I like the X-men movies, but I always kind of cringe when I see him now.

This is treason! How could anyone even think of passing a blatant attack against the first amendment.

If the treason laws were enforced, several in Congress would be doing life.

Reads like they want to make the Confederate battleflag illegal too.

House bill H.R. 1592

(7) For generations, the institutions of slavery
9 and involuntary servitude were defined by the race,
10 color, and ancestry of those held in bondage. Slavery
11 and involuntary servitude were enforced, both prior to
12 and after the adoption of the 13th amendment to the
13 Constitution of the United States, through widespread
14 public and private violence directed at persons be15
cause of their race, color, or ancestry, or perceived
16 race, color, or ancestry. Accordingly, eliminating ra17
cially motivated violence is anan important means of
18 eliminating, to the extent possible, the badges, inci19
dents, and relics of slavery and involuntary servitude.
20 (8) Both at the time when the 13th, 14th, and
21 15th amendments to the Constitution of the United
22 States were adopted, and continuing to date, members
23 of certain religious and national origin groups were
24 and are perceived to be distinct ‘‘races’’. Thus, in
25 order to eliminate, to the extent possible, the badges...

Can’t these bills be looked up in the Thomas Register? maybe just enter the Bills in Google? Of course they would never dream of censoring the Free Republic.com would they? Welcome to the NWO!

It's just like the homosexual parade and the "Pennsylvania Christians" using the Bible as a "weapon" and being arrested and faced with up to 47 years in prison for using the Bible as a weapon...

That wasn't supposed to happen either...

Could this be the start of religious persecution? What happened to the “separation between Church and State” BS that we have been forced to swallow for so long? Those who introduced this bill and voted for it should be thrown out during the next election cycle.

“How could anyone even think of passing a blatant attack against the first amendment.”

This is where we witness the weakness of our Constitution. It was written for the good, the bad and the ugly with emphasis of the bad.

dvan, it has been pointed out to you in your other thread that the Bills do not say what Wildmon claims they say.
Have you read the Bills yet?

If this happens, everyone of us should ask the question during public events which they attend, “Congressperson ... could you please explain to us what common good for society happens when a man sticks his penis up another man’s rectum and why this should be looked upon as normal, undebatable, acceptable behavior?”
