Bush Urges Hispanics To Speak Up (New Info and Quotes)
The Washington Times ^ | June 16, 2007 | Steven Dinan

President Bush yesterday told Hispanics to step into the middle of the immigration debate and make sure senators who have been bombarded with calls from opponents also hear from those who support the bill.

"There's a lot of emotion on this issue, and it makes sense to have people from around the country come and sit down with members of Congress to talk rationally about the issue," he told those attending the Hispanic Prayer Breakfast in Washington yesterday.

He was speaking a day after the bill, which collapsed last week, was revived by the top Democrat and Republican in the Senate.

Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, agreed to put the bill back on the Senate's schedule next week, and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican, agreed to limit the number of amendments Republicans would offer.

But roadblocks are already popping up.
Sen. Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican, said he will block any attempt to send the bill to an eventual House-Senate conference, complicating the usual path a bill takes to reach the president's desk.

"Ted Kennedy has sold us another bill of goods and I don't trust him to make even more changes...

I fixed the first paragraph.

President Bush yesterday told illegal aliens to step into the middle of the immigration debate and make sure senators who have been bombarded with calls from United States citizens also hear from those who support the bill.

I am speechless as well. I had to read it twice to make sure what he was saying.

He wants to grant amnesty to illegals while people have waited years to come here? What I would like to say is unprintable about now.

Illegals are breaking the law by being in this Country, he has failed his job to secure our borders, and now tells Hispanics to call and support this bill. This is a slap in the face to every American citizen.

Im beyond speechless.

What this actually reads is this

"President Bush yesterday implored foreign nationals to step into the middle of the immigration debate and make sure senators who have been bombarded with calls from concerned constituents and American citizens also hear from those foreign nationals who support the bill.

Bush has turned on the nation in favor of foreign nationals.

Mexicans have NO right to be involved in the debate at all.

I’m speechless.

Not me. This guy started showing his true agenda some years ago.

It was clear some time back, this guy was very bad news.

Bush needs psychological help. He is a sick man, and a traitor to his country and his people. He should be removed from office before he can do any more harm, but that will not happen because of the complicity of the Congress in this sham upon the American people. The state of the Washington government is beyond comprehension and should be a lesson why the American public needs to get very involved with their government, and make sure it is working for them, and not itself — that is where we are today, a total disasterous mess. The American people can only blame themselves for being complacent about their government. People deserve the government they get.

We are in trouble.

You are confusing Hispanics with illegals, Jorge. Just like your master. And I think, both you and Jorge senior are doing this deliberately. By uing such bait and switch tactics, you are trying to deflect public attention from criminals, gang bangers, and drunk drivers by painting them as “Hispanics” and “immigrants” instead.

Nobody can say Bush doesn't look at the big picture or take the long view - - the VERY long view.
There's good reason for Uncle George to want as many Mexican-Americans as possible:

By population count, European-Americans are the minority in California. AS a minority I want to be heard.
Build the border fence now.
YOu are in PA. and don’t have a clue.

The day after GWB was elected I saw a look on his face that I found troubling...It was a steely, sneaky look like he was turning into someone else...I kid you not.. I was concerned but brushed it off as him just being tired.
I’m wondering if I was truly on to someting about him back then. I voted for him twice and am no liberal.

What are you talking about? You're the one who's confused here.

I NEVER said Hispanics and illegals were the same thing.
