Phil Hendrie Returns To Talk Radio
Talk Radio Network ^ | 06/04/07 | Talk Radio Network

Posted on 06/16/2007 10:51:39 AM PDT by Recovering_Democrat

Los Angeles, CA -Talk Radio Network-FM announces the addition of The Phil Hendrie Show, premiering June 25, 2007. The new overnight show is scheduled to be live 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. PST weeknights. Mark Masters, CEO of TRN-FM, welcomes the new show stating, "With the new Phil Hendrie Show, live overnights will never be the same again, like the smash hit "South Park" Phil is a master of satire and always delivers a pay off, which brings perspective on important issues of the day. Phil Hendrie has a unique skill of using absurdity to backlight absurdity. He truly is a genius at his art form."

"There's an enormous talk radio audience at night that not only wants the news and information, they want the explanation. I'm a monologist, a story-teller, a satirist and an interviewer. All of that will be put to use a thousand percent. Our show is that radio show millions of people have been scanning the dial at night looking for. June 25th, we arrive."

Adds Masters, "With the most contentious political Presidential election cycle in history literally on our doorstep, combined with all of the ongoing issues involving terrorism and the war in the Middle East, all talk stations nationwide will need a live overnight show that will be able to maneuver in and around this complicated landscape, someone with enormous range, someone who can entertain listeners but also inform them, someone who can help navigate his audience through big breaking news stories of the day, as they occur, yet do it all in an entertaining and compelling way that brings great perspective to issues - Phil Hendrie is the perfect man for that mission."

Phil got his start in radio as a DJ and began his career in talk radio in 1990. The first Phil Hendrie Show was a comedy talk radio program that became renowned for its unique and controversial guests, who were actually fictional characters created and voiced by Hendrie himself. The show became nationally syndicated in 1996 and was heard on over 100 stations around the country.

Phil Hendrie has performed voices on the animated FOX sitcoms King of the Hill and Futurama, and in Team America: World Police. In 2006, Phil starred in the NBC sitcom Teachers. He recently starred in the FOX/CBS pilot The Giants of Radio.

Phil reminds me of Dennis Miller: a liberal who now leans conservative...PH still says he is a Democrat, and I believe him. But he also is a bit like a Joe Lieberman Democrat: ready, willing, and very eager to kill terrorists.

For a while, Phil even ran a blog designed to p*** off liberals: "georgewbushisgod.com". :)

He does a great job on the radio, even though his sense of humor could be a bit, oh, let's say "disturbed".

I saw Dennis Miller last night in Redwood City. Dennis was good, but seemed uncomfortable when the crowd reacted to Willie Brown’s comments. Dennis left fast and didn’t come back when the MC called him back.

I never cared for his later schtick myself...I preferred him when he did "straight talk." He does have one of the deepest, most mellow voices I've ever heard.
On a guy, that is. ;-)

This poster was so happy when KFI dumped his show.

He really bashes people of faith, a lot. His mindset seems almost like the ACLU.

Hendrie’s like Bill Handel (or John Zigler, for that matter) in his rather flaming hostility to the Catholic church, but on top of it, he lacks the sense of humor of Handel, and the clarity of Zigler.

It’s strange in a way though, that the highest rated talk radio station in America, does seem to have an anti-Christian slant outside the Rush Limbaugh - Dr. Laura daytime lineup.

Hopefully, KFI won’t put him back on.

Even so, the more talk the better.

Talk radio is the modern pure democracy.

OR the guy who was outraged that a bunch of people had beat him up in the park. All he’d done was invite a little girl to get in his van with him and drive around and look for his puppy. After all he returned her! Well, her panties were missing, but how was that HIS fault?

It was truly evil, but memorable.

Phil Hendrie thinks that he can impersonate callers and make a “better” talk show than real life. He is the most conceited talk show prima donna ever, and that takes the cake. It must be a real power trip to get paid for Bush bashing.

A distinction without a difference except to prove, in his own mind, that he is the smartest person in the room.. Don’t get me wrong, he has talent, and I HAVE laughed at his bits. But how much better he would be if he got saved, and realized that his talents are a gift from God, not a stick to beat up the lesser man.

Nothing will top Ted Bell. He’s one of Phil’s frequent “callers” who owns a restaurant. If he thinks a customer didn’t tip enough he follows them home.

Here’s some clips;

If anyone does get through to his show, ask him if Bud Dickman is still on work release.

Phil Hendrie a Bush Basher?

Hendrie admires the steadfastness of President Bush and respects him about as much as is possible for a left winger like himself to do so.

Of course he’s conceited, but he knows he is, and the guy is hilarious.

Oh yes!!! So many characters!!! And the women characters, too. The first time I ever heard Phil, having no idea about his program, he had a cranky elderly female caller (Phil, of course) who had difficulty hanging the phone up in the cradle and who kept butting back in. It was riveting.

You are WRONG!

Phil is just a guy who wants to stir up the sh&% and make people laugh. He pokes fun at the overly zealous who take themselves too seriously.

Examples: 1) Jay Santos - Brigadier Admiral of the Citizens Police Brigade. Their motto: “We take a peek over the shoulder of the police!”
2) Bobbie Dooley - Society girl and President of the Greater Western Estate Home Owners Association, who believes that the “old and unsightly” owe it to society to kill themselves to beautify her neighborhood.
3) Doug Danger - Gay man and Gay journalist who, despite how off topic, believes that ALL issues revolve around the idea that being a Gay man and a Gay journalist proves that straight people hate Gays. (No we don’t hate Gays, just HIM!)
4) Rudy Carnoza - Latin man who thinks that ALL women want to hear him say “lalalalalalalala” in their ear!
Keep in mind that Phil does ALL the voices of the characters on his show and then mixes in callers who THINK that the characters are real!

Springer is a low life who made his name first as a corrupt liberal politician and then as a liberal talk show host who appeals to the “lowest common denominator” is all humans and WANTS people to kill each other on the air.

It must be a real power trip to get paid for Bush bashing.

You must be listening to The OTHER Phil Hendrie Show.

Because the Phil Hendrie I listened when I lived in Los Angeles
was so pro-Bush in the wake of 9-11/Afghanistan/Iraq, he started
a blog on the topic.
(sorry, I can't remember the URL, but he announced it more than
a few times)
This was so he could just dispense with spending a lot of the show
on his support of Dubya and responding to all the e-mail he got
from Bush-bashers.

Now, he may have changed in the last year or so after he quit his
last radio gig. But for 2001-2004, he took heat for supporting Dubya.

It was a put on, but the way his “guests” would try and
justify themselves using flawed logic, blind spots, etc.,
and the way it would anger the callers was particularly funny.

We were having a company try and schmooze us to buy one
of their products, and were going to have it at a
Beverly Hills Restaurant. I erased the name of the
Restaurant, and replaced it with “Ted Bells Steakhouse”
and one of my colleagues, said she would never go there
cause she hates Ted Bell, cause he was an
insufferable snot. “Oooh, I hate him” were her
words. I couldn’t stop laughing. I finally disabused her
of that notion, but laugh about it to this day.
