The further away from home you get the more you worry about the safety of your mother and father. Indians, in my experience, are not different than other people in that regard.

On the other hand, India's lines of trade with Japan and the Americas traverse a couple of straits in Indonesia. Any intelligent Indian (here or in India) knows that Indonesia is a potential threat against peaceful commerce.

And you can't say the Indonesians aren't dangerous ~ the Dutch would tell you otherwise, and the hundreds of thousands of Dutch-Indonesians in America can provide you details.

But last time I checked American Indians have no say in dictating the foreign or domestic policy of India. If us ex-IITians, who migrated to US in larger number, had our way, we’d definitely do away with affirmative action in higher ed schools.

South-east Asians treat Indians as “blacks” and the discrimination against the predominantly Tamil descent people is horrendous. Indians do the lowest of jobs in Malaysia and many are not even paid a decent wage. Racially, the mongoloids (is it politically correct to use that word ?) seem to show a great amount of hostility to Indians, only surpassed by Arabs. Indians dont garner much respect among these people as the only types they know are the lowest of the working class.

Indians should develop a greater sense of “self respect” and “individualism” by learning from Americans. Maybe US could outsource some of those qualities instead of back-end office jobs........

Actually, it’s only the Muslim areas of SE Asia and the Middle East that despise Indians(or non-Muslims, for that matter). Try Thailand, you’ll be surprised how well Indians are received there. Or even Cambodia.

As for the Tamils, they are the ones who exported their culture to SE Asia, centuries ago. When that was supplanted by Islam, things went for the worse.

Glad to know that. But from what some Tamil folk told me it seems to be a racial issue. Look at the way poor Indian Malayalee or Pakistani muslims get treated in Arab countries, not very different.

Its kind of disturbing that so many Indians have to work in places where they are not respected.

Racial, true. The Muslim Arabs, and the Muslim Indonesians/Malaysians hate the Indians AND the Chinese ethnic groups, Muslim or otherwise.

Ambiguous letter. Will Obama be able to connect the dots?

Or a Black Panther.

I've heard a few former Panthers speak in person......they act like the KKK paid them to be living negative sterotypes.

By behavior and attitude and statements alone, they come across as walking talking racist sterotypes.
