http://www.theabsurdreport.com/2007/warning-immigration-reform-round-two-is-here/

Grassfire info.

Call these Senators and say you oppose this “Amendments for Amnesty” deal.

Sen. Durbin (202)224-2152
Sen. Obama (202) 224-2854

Key Senators to call:

McConnell 202/224-2541
Lott 202/224-6253
Kyl 202/224-4521
Brownback 202/224-6521
Burr 202/224-3154
Chambliss 202/224-3521
Cornyn 202/224-2934
Hutchison 202/224-5922
Isakson 202/224-3643
Warner 202/224-2023
Webb 202/224-4024

Talking Points (Your calls will carry more weight if you are
polite and respectful!):

1. I understand that Senate leaders are working on a back-room deal that will bring the Amnesty bill back for a vote in exchange for consideration on certain amendments.

2. I oppose this “Amendments for Amnesty” deal.

3. If you support this deal, then you will forever be listed as a supporter of amnesty.

4. The American people have spoken in opposition to this amnesty bill. I urge you to oppose this deal and the bill.

Yes, see also this link:
http://www.outsourcecongress.org/outsource/congress/schstaffers.html

This is a very effective way to capture the STAFFER emails for Senators and send a message to them.

I sent a message individually to each Senator’s staff list, so I could address as follows:

I am writing to ask you and Senator McConnell to vigorously and publicly oppose
the inherently flawed Senate immigration bill. A cloture vote is a “YES” vote on the bill itself.
Senator McConnell needs to vote “NO” on immigration bill cloture votes, and he needs
to disassociate himself from the notorious back-room deal-makers concocting this stinker.

Senator McConnell is both harming America and destroying the Republican party’s
position in advancing this flawed and very unpopular bill. I expect several Republican
incumbents will lose in 2008 if this bill is passed, and my mind boggles at how out-of-touch
inside-the-beltway politicians are to the level of rejection of this bill among voters.”

WOSG, thanks for the Ping,

Yes that number (888) 534-6226 is a good one...

Just ask the switchboard operator for the senator or congressman/woman of your choice etc...

Have another name ready in case she says that the line is busy ....which happened a lot last week...

The operators are most cooperative...Stay nice..

http://www.charlotteconservative.com/index.php/2007/06/proof-amnesty-is-a-scam/

PROOF AMNESTY IS A SCAM:

“Senator Jim DeMint, Republican of South Carolina, welcomed the president’s support for more spending on border security, but said,

“There’s no reason why we should be forced to tie amnesty to it.”

Jum DeMint just summed up the entire line of thinking I myself have.

The sellouts in Congress and our president say they will “protect the border” and provide “tamperproof work id systems” and “technological fence”.

Now can anyone tell me the reason we need amensty for 12 million criminals for these three proposals to work on their own?

Burr and Dole are pretty Good. I checked their amendment vote records over the weekend.

There is a blog that has a record on all the Senators and their likelihood of switching. I’ve lost track of it however.
I am trying to find it.

Great list of Email addresses....

Thanks, but the credit should really go to Freeper caphillbabe who compiled all of the email addresses, names, and titles of Senate staffers. I only parsed her list for the addresses to make quick, bulk emailing possible. Freeper furgan took my huge list (which email programs balked at) and broke it into smaller blocks that yahoo allows.

You can see caphillbabe's list here at comment #6

PING - “Kill Bill II: The Vampire Strikes Back (Fight the Senate Immigration Bill)”

Senate Bill S.1348 information:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:SN01348:

CBO has a cost estimate:
http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdoc.cfm?index=8179&type=0&sequence=0

This is far less than the Heritage cost estimate, which is $2.5 TRILLION over next 25 years.

WHERE THE SENATORS STAND (maybe)

http://noamaskew.blogspot.com/2007/06/cloture-vote-guesses-hunt-for-60.html

List of those who voted against cloture last time and how likely they are to switch to vote in favor of cloture next time (assuming there is a next time for this bill)...The bill needs 15 more cloture votes to continue...

Very Likely to Switch
Kyl (R-AZ)-coalition member
Lott (R-MS)—pushing hard for bill; willing to “reign in” dissenters
McConnell (R-KY)-pushing hard for bill
Craig (R-ID)—has said he will

Likely to Switch
Boxer (D-CA)—voted in favor of bill last year
Collins (R-ME)—voted in favor of bill last year
Snowe (R-ME)—voted in favor of bill last year
Domenici (R-NM)—voted in favor of bill last year
Murkowski (R-AK)—voted in favor of bill last year
Stevens (R-AK)—voted in favor of bill last year

Could very well switch
Smith (R-OR)—voted for bill last year, but could be up for a tough re-election...
Alexander (R-TN)—voted against cloture last time
Gregg (R-NH)—voted in favor of bill last year
Bingaman (D-NM)—voted in favor of bill last year—but has been a little more critical now...
Bennett (R-UT)—voted in favor of bill last year
Hatch (R-UT)—voted in favor of cloture last year
Cochran (R-MS)—voted in favor of cloture last year

Toss-ups
Warner (R-VA)—up for re-election; voted for bill last time, but, w/Webb, he might not switch
Sanders (I-VT)—who knows! He’s independent!
Coleman (R-MN)—up for re-election; voted for bill last time, but has been more critical now
Isakson (R-GA)— the Georgians are tough: both voted against cloture before
Chambliss (R-GA)— but are more favorable to ultimate bill now....
Pryor (D-AR)—up for re-election; voted in favor of bill last year, but more critical now....

Could Very Well not Switch
Hutchison (R-TX)—voted against cloture last year (but also against bill)
Webb (D-VA)—new but has been somewhat skeptical
Rockefeller (D-WV)—has been a skeptic with Byrd
Tester (D-MT)—seems skeptical....
Baucus (D-MT)—up for re-election; also seems skeptical (even though he voted for bill last time)
Ensign (R-NV)—seemed at one point slightly favorable to bill, but it’s hard to say....

Somewhat Unlikely to Switch
Corker (R-TN)—new but still seems skeptical
Cornyn (R-TX)—up for re-election; voted against bill last time
McCaskill (D-MO)—new but still seems skeptical
Landrieu (D-LA)—up for re-election; voted against bill last time

Very Unlikely to Switch
DeMint (R-SC) signed enforcement letter to president
Dorgan (D-ND)—voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Bunning (R-KY)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Burr (R-NC)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Byrd (D-WV)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Sessions (R-AL)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Shelby (R-AL)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Sununu (R-NH)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Crapo (R-ID)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Dole (R-NC)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Vitter (R-LA)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Grassley (R-IA)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Thune (R-SD)——voted against cloture last year; consistent bill skeptic
Allard (R-CO)—voted against cloture last year
Bond (R-MO)—voted against cloture last year
Inhofe (R-OK)—voted against cloture last year
Roberts (R-KS)—voted against cloture last year

Missed Last Cloture
Enzi (R-WY)—often misses votes on clotures for immigration bills—has missed votes for last year’s cloture and this year’s...
Brownback (R-KS)—sends a lot of mixed signals, but seems—sometimes—in favor of bill...
Coburn (R-OK)—probably against cloture
Johnson (D-SD)—unlikely to vote at all (ill health)
