Norm Coleman is not conservative. He is anti-abortion but on most other issues he is as liberal as his history as an east coast Democrat would lead you to believe. I will take your word for it. I assumed he was conservative since his was pro-life. Engler is pro-life isn't he? He was very popular as a VP choice 8 years ago but did not want to because of his small children. Hopefully he might consider it now.

" A black man on the ticket will kill their slanderous charges in any fair thinking voter's mind. "
The thing is ? if the DEMS chose Obama, and then Fred picks a Black Republican, they will charge that we are just pandering, or tit for tat kind of thing going on.
Please don't misunderstand me, that would be a smart strategic move by Fred, but, the Dems and the MSM will say we are just pandering for picking a black running mate for Fred.

Well, perhaps. I want to emphasize the fact that it shouldn’t be primarily about strategy. He should do it only if he can get a very principled conservative. No liberals with R’s by their name in the name of smart strategy. That’s always bad strategy in the long run. But if the man is a solid conservative and also black, it will help regardless of the phony charges. And Obama is only half black, so we would have the first real black candidate.
