That being said, he has exactly no chance at securing the nomination.

Yep, that's what they said about Tom McClintok and look what we got....
Mr. Maria Kennedy-Shriver.

People should look at CA, then vote, in the primaries, for who they think will make the best president.

To know Duncan Hunter is to love him.

So many people support him once they learn about him, like a bunch of people that I know.

I believe people need to consider the power of the immigration bill as a campaign tool in California, Arizona and Colorado. Prop 187 passed with strong support in California and I think Californians would support one of their own fighting for them on this issue.

Would be nice if L.A. considered illegal immigration and voted for Hunter since quite a few of their hospitals have had to shut down because of it. They won’t, though.

Even Cavuto pulled a Hannity yesterday...asks Hunter a question and then talks over him during the answer.

Got my “thank you” letter and bumper sticker today along with another envelope to send back with another contribution. I would challenge/encourage others on the thread to put their money where their mouth is and support the only conservative in the race.

Accurate assessment. For several years my tv was always tuned to Fox. Now it is always off. I watched as that network went hard to the cnn and jerry springer crowd.

I am not interested in the color of Princes panties or the menu of paris Hilton, or whether she was allowed to brush her teeth.

That Our nation is at risk from within and without causes me to focus in other directions and on more daunting matters.

This goes to show you that Hunter has the ability to break through the ‘name recognition’ barrier when given the chance and impresses just about everyone who has the opportunity to meet or hear from him. He remains the best candidate the GOP and nation could wish for.

Such contradictory statements are common with you people. So much for the GOP getting its act together. No one has a right to complain about the spineless twits that continue to be ‘leaders’ of the party when you continue to support the same old, same old. And, yes, Fred is the same old.

Fred would not be good at being the decision maker. The time for Duncan Hunter is now.

If Hunter had been from most states, he would have been a governor or senator by now. California is lost to people like Duncan nowadays.

He would be a great President. I think Thompson would be a good president and a great communicator. He's not as solid as Duncan, but he's as close as we can expect, and he can respond to the attacks of the left with wit and style.

I think our ideal ticket for '08 is Thompson/Hunter. The Veep slot will be a great way to get Hunter the national exposure that his residency in California was unable to give him, and he will be well positioned to take over in 2016, when he will still be young enough to carry on for 8 more years. That would take us to 2024.

With great leaders and leadership, the GOP can come back to power in Congress, in 2010 or 2012, more conservative and principled, and finally start reversing some of the liberal policies that Bush should have done more to effect. The solution isn't a new party, it's taking over the GOP, just as Reagan took over the GOP from the northeastern establishment of Ford and Rockefeller and turned it into the party of conservatives, with RINOs forced to go along. The last few years, the RINOs have fought back, but take out guys like Graham, get rid of turncoats like Specter and Hagel, and when the party comes back, it will be stronger and ready for big changes, in tax and social policy, in immigration, and in war fighting strategies.

Without such strong leadership, the GOP is going to go down in flames in 2008, and will be in the wilderness for a long time, which will not only kill the party, but damage the country, perhaps irreparably. Let's hope we get a Hunter or a Thompson to clean up Bush's mess.

I would love to see Duncan Hunter as Speaker of the House. One reason I am ticked off at the Republicans is that they seem to be accepting the status quo of being the minority party in Congress.

I have heard no talk nor plans of retaking the House and/or Senate in 2008. There seems to be absolutely no leadership of the Republican Party lately. I think Hunter could be one of those who could lead Congressional Republicans.

I have a better idea. How about we see Duncan Hunter as president? I’m getting fed up with all of the fredbots coming in here telling us that our candidate isn’t good enough to be president, and that he needs to serve as VP or SECDEF or whatever under a RINO administration before he can run for president.

That’s bull. The best way for him to gain national exposure is for him to become the republican nominee for president. Once that happens, he will have the same amount of name recognition as anyone that the rats put up.

Conservatism wins every time it’s tried. Let’s give it a try in 08.

Don’t equate liberalism with electability.

Ok how much is President Duncan Hunter going to get done with a Democratic Congress? Tell me who else in Congress is as an effective leader as Hunter?

I would rather have a Rino President and Speaker of the House Hunter than President Hunter and Speaker of the House Peloski.

If I owned a football team and the positions of Coach and Quarterback was vacant and the only good candidate for Quarterback wants to be Coach then I would make that person Quarterback instead because that is what is best for the team.

Goldwater vs LBJ, Alan Keyes vs Obama, George Allen vs Webb.

I think Haley Barbour will be VP.

Which states would Barbour bring in, that Fred wouldn't already get? Haley Barbour is a joke outside the south, he looks like that mayor character on the old "Carter Country" TV show from thirty years ago.

I would love to see Duncan Hunter as Speaker of the House.

That's probably the very best place for him. He has way more seniority than anybody from the "Contract with America" years, and is entitled to the Republican Party's loyalty. Cabinet seats only last for a relative few years, generally, but a Speaker of the House can go on for many years.

I can’t imagine Duncan Hunter sharing a ticket with Fred Thompson. Thompson has way too much dirty laundry and Hunter doesn’t give me the impression of tolerance for dirty laundry.

We are going to put a heck of a dent into the speakers margin. I know of six races we should pick up hands down.

I saw an article on FR that said 8 of the 9 most vulnerble house members are Dems.

I believe we have a decent shot at 14 seats.

I will Vote for Duncan Hunter in the Primary.

I am sending him money before 30 June.
