Immigration Half-Baked
PBS Tavis Smiley Young Voices Blog ^ | June 15, 2007 | Rose Capozzi

Posted on 06/19/2007 12:27:56 PM PDT by politicodc

In America today there are an estimated 7 million illegal immigrants. Many say that these immigrants drive down wages for hard working Americans. Others say that they introduce new problems into our education system and drain resources from our entitlement programs.

Though the problems are [somewhat] clearly defined, the solution is not.

While I do not generally support the idea of giving special privileges to certain groups of people, especially ones who purposely and knowingly break the law, in this situation there is no other logical or practical solution. America is like a baker that has left a window open and put our irresistibly delicious American apple pie on the ledge to cool. And now that the attractive odor has caught the attention of the rest of the world, the sick, tired, poor and hungry are here and want to have a piece.

It might seem enticing to simply search for the illegals and send them packing, but the resources, time, and effort it would require is too great. The ball has already been dropped and now it is time to cut our losses and come up with a plan to prevent greater and continual abuse.

Though President Bush's bill is a step in the right direction, by rejecting business as usual, it needs to focus more on containing the problem - and preventing further illegals from breaking our laws. Now, if only Congress could find a way to have their pie and eat it, too...

Yeah, I screwed up and left my garage door open over night. Now I’ve got to get busy adding on and furnishing rooms to house the poor that got into my house. Should I buy a car for each one, too? And should I use my childrens’ college fund to educate them?

“In America today there are an estimated 7 million illegal immigrants”

Sadly, it is 20-25 million. Get your facts straight.

Could be a kid a lot older and a product of the California High Schools, considering how badly his/her math sucks.

The illegal invaders in this country number somewhere between 20 and 60 million, not 7 million. If amnesty is granted for them, they will also be able to invite their families to join them here. And most of them have large families.

The globalists want this bill to promote their own agenda, and the Democrats are counting on the votes.

This bill, if passed, spells doom for the country. Our hospitals, schools, prisons and welfare system are being bankrupted now by the illegal aliens. Most of them are uneducated, and largely unskilled people who will suck the system dry.

The U.S. citizen will foot the bill with alarming tax increases. Salaries will go down because of the cheap labor provided by the illegals, thus seriously damaging the middle class in this country.

If this bill passes, only chaos will ensue because if we do not enforce the relatively simple immigration laws now on the books, how could we ever hope to enforce the incredibly complex laws in this evil bill?

So you see, there is much more to the question than meets the eye. You only need dig below the surface a little to find the terrible flaws in S 1348.

Not a bad analogy.

However, the first step in dealing with it is to shut the window, an obvious approach that is not being promoted much by any of the media or candidates.

Then we'll have some time to figure out how we want to deal with those who got in while the window was open.

No. 1-—SHUT WINDOW.
NO. 2——FUMIGATE!
No. 3-—sweep out.

See, it really isn’t so difficult, dumbass.
