X-rays point to human pincushion

June 20, 2007 12:00am

A CHINESE baby who had been unusually fussy was x-rayed by doctor who found six sewing needles inside him - including one in his head.

The baby, just 12 months old, was x-rayed at a hospital in Guangzhou in south China's Guangdong province.

Doctors are planning to operate to remove the needles, which are in his chest, abdomen and head.

The child's parents, migrant workers from southwest China, said they had no idea how the needles ended up in their son.

Jut a thought but could he have been born with these? It would be even stranger how they got into the mother’s body but it seems like inserting after birth , esp in the head would have at least seriously injured him.

This is tragic.

I doubt that they DON’T know how these pins hot in there. A parents job is to protect their baby. They FAILED.

Thats directed at whoever did this to the kid, my first instinct was to suspect the parents, but maybe i was a bit hasty. Just sounds like a botched abortion attempt(either pre-or post-birth)

Someone may have done this but maybe not.
I worked with a woman, who had a pin in her spine.
We were at work and she just started screaming, freaked us all out.
The boss called an ambulance and when they xrayed her back there was a three inch long pin (or needle).
No one could figure out how it got there or how long it had been in her back.
She brought the xrays in after surgery....weird.

I saw this story not too long ago about a Russian man who discovered that he had several needles embedded in his head. He had no idea where they had come from, but one account suggested that in years past "people stuck needles in the head of an unwanted baby to kill him."

Maybe this incidence here was a botched abortion attempt?

What a disturbing thought - that someone could do this to a helpless baby (if indeed it was intentional.)

Sometimes the health of a society is improved by the permanent elimination of such callous barbarians.
