It's no secret that the Senate immigration bill rewards 12-20 million illegal aliens with immediate amnesty. What is less well known is that the bill also allows illegal aliens to receive in-state tuition rates at public universities, discriminating against U.S. citizens from out of state and law-abiding foreign students.
These provisions are buried deep in the Senate bill. They are part of the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act section.
The DREAM Act is a nightmare. It repeals a 1996 federal law that prohibits any state from offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens, unless the state also offers in-state tuition rates to all U.S. citizens. On top of that, the DREAM Act offers a fast track to U.S. citizenship for illegal aliens who attend college.
On its own, the DREAM Act never stood a chance of passing even in the Senate. Every scientific opinion poll on the subject has shown over 70 percent opposition to giving in-state tuition benefits to illegal aliens.
Not surprisingly, the DREAM Act languished in committee for five years until the opportunity arose to hitch it to the Senate's "comprehensive" immigration bill of 2006. Now, Sen. Edward Kennedy and his allies have added it to this year's amnesty bill, too. They know that the only way to slip such bad legislation past the American people is to bury it in a comprehensive bill.

“Is there ANYTHING in this bill that doesn’t harm America?”
I think it was printed on recycled paper. ;)
Whew! What a relief:)
Just when we think we have heard everything about this bill, it gets worse.
Keep calling, folks. The calls are working. Remind your senators to vote “No” on cloture.
“a college education for illegal aliens...”
one has to take care of the future cadre of the democrat party. they are the occupying army you know and until hillary! seizes the reigns of power, they must be provided for, nurtured and groomed for the jobs they will do. (grease up the gulag boots.)
A good friend of mine is a Chinese national with 3 advanced degrees and a very enviable record as an application developer and programmer.
No “immigration reform” for him - he’s still in the H1B waiting line; a lower priority than pickers, packers and ditch diggers.
They are going to expect classes in Spanish!
Is there ANYTHING that shows how unconcerned our Congress is for this country?
Later in the article:
The list includes some states right in the heart of America: California, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Washington.
In most of these states, the law was passed under cover of darkness. The governors declined to hold signing ceremonies heralding the new law because public opinion was overwhelmingly opposed to giving taxpayer-subsidized college education to illegal aliens.
Not surprisingly, when voters themselves decide the question, a very different result occurs. In November 2006 Arizona voters passed Proposition 300, which expressly barred Arizona universities from offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens. More than 71 percent voted in favor.
The American people realize the injustice of giving illegal aliens a taxpayer-subsidized education when out-of-state U.S. citizens and law-abiding foreign students have to pay the full cost of their education.
And all classes will be in Span-ish so if you are an American and speak our language and have our culture you are out of here!
Yes- but I EXPECT this kind of bill from Kennedy. It’s the support for it from our president and assorted others who should, and likely DO, know better that is frightening.
“They are going to expect classes in Spanish!”
They already do. There were wars being waged over this at Cal State Long Beach in the late 80’s/early 90’s when I attended. I got involved in lengthy debates over the issue, and was disgusted to learn that they were getting Spanish taught classes, despite it being in the school charter that a “working knowledge” of English was required to enroll in the school in the first place.
It should be noted, that on other campuses, like Berkeley, with large populations of Japanese, Chinese and Indian students, the only group demanding classes taught in other languages are Spanish speaking kids. At least I havent seen any Japanese students demanding anything - they’re usually busy in the library studying.

A Civil War is coming. Prepare yourself now.
Trent Lott knows exactly what is good for you, you don’t know nuttin’ so shut up and let the professionals handle this, so this important legislation can be passed and Lott, Graham and McConnell can attend a victory dinner hosted by Ted Kennedy.

Their concern is tantamount to saying: Do not criminalize illegal activities and do not adopt any law enforcement procedures which may be used to separate individuals who are here illegally from the legal immigrant and legal resident alien population. They want to obfuscate the line between legal and illegal by suggesting that the citizens of the United States use euphemisms such as undocumented workers rather than the legally correct and descriptive, "illegal aliens." It should be also noticed that they oppose protective measures which would cripple anti-terrorist activities.

We shouldn't be giving taxpayer-subsidized college education to anybody, let alone illegal aliens. Let the freeloaders earn it like the rest of us working stiffs.
In criticizing recent Heritage Foundation research on the cost of low-skill immigration and amnesty, proponents of the Senate immigration legislation (S. 1348), including Administration spokesmen, have falsely claimed that the proposal would not give illegal immigrants access to the U.S. welfare system.
While provisions of the Senate bill would delay illegal immigrants' access to welfare for several years, over time nearly all amnesty recipients would be offered legal permanent residence and access to more than 60 federal means-tested welfare programs.
Specifically, Z visa holders would immediately be given Social Security numbers and would begin earning entitlement to Social Security and Medicare (which are not means-tested welfare programs).
Some ten to thirteen years after enactment, amnesty recipients would begin to gain access to a wide variety of means-tested welfare programs, such as Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, public housing, and Food Stamps. The amnesty process under S.1348, and the different stages of the process at which amnesty recipients become eligible for different government benefits, are precisely described in "Amnesty Will Cost U.S. Taxpayers at Least $2.6 Trillion."
If you liked that- you’re going to just love this:

Is there ANYTHING in this bill that doesnt harm America?
I think it was printed on recycled paper. ;)
Note the ink used carbon that wasn’t offset by a credit.
It's becoming apparent that you may be correct. The ballot box is useless, and the liberals own the soap box. WTF is wrong with these morons in Washington? Are they completely deaf to the demands of the electorate?
In state students will be affected too.
If you have an illegal family with four or five children and $100,000 in annual income, of which $75,000 is on a cash basis, off the books, the family appears to be "poor." Any college students in that family (anchor babies and illegals) will then become eligible for Pell grants, state and University grants, work study, as well as subsidized Perkins and Stafford Loans.
Contrast with a white American family, possibly with legal immigrant parents, earning $50,000, all on the books. Not only will they be punished by high taxes and a higher cost of living, but the college students in the family will be denied grants and receive unsubsidized Stafford Loans. Even more likely is that the parents will have to take out Parent PLUS Loans or even private loans.
In addition, the colleges and universities are legally allowed to discriminate against the white American family (affirmative action). I have no doubt that affirmative action extends to financial aid, too.
The end result is that it doesn't pay to be a U.S. citizen, rather the U.S. citizen is legally obligated to subsidize those who break and scoff at the law.
It's a recipe for disaster.
Come to America, get a college education at our expense! I’ve had it with Washington. Those clowns there don’t represent me, or most of the people in this country. They’re in Washington to feather their own nests. It’s time the corruption of politics that exists in Washington came to an end.
Lott, Graham and McConnell are expecting votes from Latinos out of this. They’re dreaming, of course.
The Kennedys are like the Bonapartes. What’s good for them is good for the nation. And they are born to rule.
Where’s a class action suit by legal US citizens who get socked with out-of-state rates?

Check out the fifth paragraph down from the top.
A pox on both their Houses.
That is the truth, I had to retake the drivers test once, to many speeding tickets, there were five Asian students there that day taking the drivers test, they all took it in English.
That’s it - I’m applying for illegal alien status for my family!
Cheap, subsidized tuition, no need to save for college!
I’ll go out and buy that corvette I’ve got my eye on!
No, no, the taxpayers didn’t buy the corvette, they just paid for my girls’ college education.
(No, no, tax dollars don’t go to fund abortions at Planned Parenthood, it just goes to pay for their other budget items.)
I do not understand how those who are sworn to preserve, protect, and defend the constitution can use it as toilet paper.
Also that we are not storming the congress and demanding the recall of any senator/congresscritter who actively supports this abomination.
It becomes increasingly apparent with each passing day that the United States Congress no longer represents the will of the true citizens of the United States. Instead they represent the will of themselves, other nations, globalists, and global corporate interests. It is quickly coming a time when we citizens must take the necessary action to wrest control of our government from their corrupt hands and return it to those who will represent our national rights as American citizens. It is time now to begin preparing for a new 21st century tea party. Our national sovereignty and our children’s future freedom hangs in the balance. Apathy will only secure our demise. - OB1
I would like help funding the education I’ve struggled to pay for in the past 7 years! I made 1k/year too much to qualify for grants.......and I’m going to be forced to pay for someone who doesn’t belong here? This is wrong in so many ways!
A Civil War is coming. Prepare yourself now.
Yep. World war also.
