Voters Are Having Buyers Remorse

Congress: Like the victim of a slick used car salesman tricked into buying a lemon, Americans wish they could return the Democratic Congress their votes bought: Confidence in Congress has hit an all-time low of 14%.

Gallup just announced its annual survey of public confidence in an array of institutions in American life. Our brave men and women in uniform, naturally, were tops: Confidence in the military is at 69%. Small business, the chief jobs creator in our country, came in second at 59%.

Banks garnered only 41%; the Supreme Court, public schools and the medical system were all in the 30s in the confidence rankings.

The Supreme Court does not deserve the 30’s rating it gets. I’d say it deserves a lower rating than Congress, and that Congress’s rating is too high as well.

You got that right. After Kelo vs New London, my confidence in the Supreme Court is sitting about 0%, maybe even a little lower.

This is all over the MSM, just like when the Republicans were in power, right?

Not.

The MSM will say it’s because the Congress hasn’t forced Bush to withdraw from Iraq; hasn’t implemented socialized healthcare, etc.

Na.

Next election they will again vote for free health care, free gas, free education, peace, love, and prosperity, and for anyone who says they will control the weather.

And then whine when they don’t get it.

The Democrats should look on the bright side. At least they're pulling in 86% approval ratings from Islamofascists.

There's not much enthusiasm for the GOP either. The GOP should be benefiting from this but it's not. The American people see our political parties working together to harm the country instead of advancing its best interests. And they're sick of it!

Confidence in the military is at 69%.

That is really astounding. The country is roughly split 50/50 between Democrats and Republicans. If 100% of Republicans have confidence in the military (a pretty safe bet), then 38% of Dems have "confidence in the military." Given the shrill, ultra-leftist, anti-military, anti-Iraq, anti-Gitmo behavior of Dems, I'm shocked that many would have confidence in our military forces.

Its no accident that incumbancy return rates are what they are. Afterall, the system was designed by politicians for the benefit of politicians.

They're not entirely inmune (yet) to their constituencies, although they're farther removed than you think.

I think I saw a CNN reference to Newsweek (how’s that for 2 losers?) reporting a poll showing Congress at 25% approval, about 3 or 4 paragraphs into an article about BUSH’s low approval rating. No mention of the Gallup numbers, and you are right, I have not heard them anywhere except on Fox News.

Does anyone else have any sightings of the Gallup poll?

Step 1: Move the capital to the Kansas / Missouri border. Turn DC into a huge national museum. This will end the idea of “flyover country” forever.

Step 2: Term limits. No more than 2 terms for any office.

Step 3: No amendments to any bill that are unrelated to the bill. All unrelated amendments (ie, earmarks) must be put in one bill at the end of the year entitled “Miscellaneous Spending.” Each section of that bill must clearly state who the sponsor is.

Step 4: End all foreign aid, immediately. NO exceptions. If a country can’t make it on its own, it’s not our problem. Use the money to first pay off the national debt, then reduce taxes accordingly. Evicting the UN from Manhattan is included in ‘ending foreign aid.’

Step 5: Redeploy the entire US Army to the southern border. Create a 500m ‘dead zone’ in which anything moving dies. Relocate the entire US Border Patrol to the Northern Border. Securing the border is no longer a law enforcement mission, but a military one.
