In Case We Can't Give Up the Cars -- Try 16 Trillion Mirrors

In Case We Can't Give Up the Cars -- Try 16 Trillion Mirrors

What if we wait too long to act on global warming? What if nothing we do is enough? Already, scientists are working up plans of last resort: stratospheric sprays of sulfur, trillions of orbiting mirrors and thousands of huge off-shore saltwater fountains.

Each is designed to counteract global warming by deliberately deflecting sunlight, rather than by retooling the world's economy to eliminate carbon-rich oil, coal and natural gas.

That’s been the pattern in the WSJ for many years — conservative editorial page, but largely liberal balance of paper. The news articles are generally written by economic illiterates.

Condensation trails evaporate after a time. This stuff is made of minute particles of barium and/or aluminum oxide.

You know, I live under an approach to a major airport, and I've been wondering where all that barium salt on my roof has been coming from. Haven't seen the sun in years, either.

(1) spraying sulfur in our stratosphere

Why not just nuke 10 of the world`s most powerful volcanoes to try to get them to erupt? Be a lot cheaper. These guys are nuts. Just as nuts as the scientists who proposed covering the Arctic with soot to melt it during the global cooling scare.

I wonder who will be making the mirrors and how much the politicians will earn from pushing this nonsense.

Truly scary.

I think that we'll survive GW (assuming that there is such a thing...) if we don't try to fix the problem. So long as no one tries to do anything about it, we'll be fine.

Now, if people want to drive hybrids and switch their light bulbs....that's fine, as it makes them all feel good and amounts to a spit in the ocean. But these ideas could truly do lasting damage.

I can't wait until the Global Warming fad is over.

To be serious for a moment, I think all this is mostly a red herring to make the reactionary, anti-capitalist solutions they really want look more palatable. I doubt many scientists, or the writer himself, have any attention at actually seeing any of this done.

The "If we can't give up our cars" caveat in the headline should be a dead giveaway. Trillions of mirrors? Come on...

According to the National Weather Service it is supposed to be 43 degrees here tonite - - about 75 miles northwest of New York City, one day after the longest day of the year.

I forgot about sulfuric acid rain.

Perhaps it would be cheaper just to retart a known sulfuric volcanic area with a nuke, and let Mother Nature do the rest?

With all the CFR/SPP/Tri-lateral Commission/Freemason/Illuminati/Builderberger conspiracy nuts around here lately, I forgot about Chemtrails.

sulfur is out - acid rain.
mirrors are out - space junk. (look ma, no satellites)
barium - toxic.
aluminum - fearfully expensive
ships in the middle of the ocean spewing up ocean water sprays - probably only feasible measure.

Wow! You're right, it's a world wide conspiracy. I know it's true because when I did search I got thousands of hits on the subject...Who can argue with that fact?

I'm like you. I believe everything I read on the internet...I'll bet you even get a lot of your facts from Wickpedia...now there's a reliable internet source. < /sarcasm >

"...The "If we can't give up our cars" caveat in the headline should be a dead giveaway. Trillions of mirrors? Come on..."

Right you are; however, there was a "series" plan floated years ago to put a "hugh" mylar web circulating between Earth and the Sun to reduce solar emissions down here. At least that action could be removed when no longer needed.

The little ice age was caused by volcanic activities, and this is for real, and not junk science.
Are there any plans prior to roasting under global warming to cause volcano eruptions to solve this pending global warming/frying dilemma?

geoengineering

We've been doing geoengineering for thousands of years. For example we are no longer at the mercy of the rain gods because we developed the technology to build dams, aqueducts, and methods of flood control. Earth couldn't support 6 billion people without geoengineering. We build roads, bridges, tunnels, move mountains and forests. All this is geoengineering. Cloud control is just another technology we can use to make life better. I sure hope our military is researching cost effective weather management methods since most leaps in technology originate from the military developing new weapons. Most experiments will fail but we can't move forward without trying. Are you upset about this? If the military develops effective weather control the whole global warming scare is over. Developing new technology is not only cost effective, it is also the source of America's wealth.

Chemtrails puts this otherwise series article into the kook department. Orbiting a trillion mirrors does also, as does spraying sulfur into the atmosphere. Doesn’t leave much, oh well. Just being WSJ doesn’t make it series.

LOL!
