Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer have big plans to rein in conservative radio talk shows, according to Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla.

He said Thursday on John Ziegler's evening radio show on KFI in L.A. that he overheard Clinton, D-N.Y., and Boxer, D-Calif., saying they want legislation to control conservative radio talk shows.

They will hear from us on trying to restrict free speech. This time it will be the Dims who will get it.

To me, it would all be a question of who was deciding what was biased.

Good points.

Certainly bias is in the eye of the beholder and most of the left is unwilling to admit that any bias exists.

Thanx. I didn't feel like looking it up. ~S

(I doubt that Clinton or Boxer would care--frankly--depending, of course, on who the human beings happened to be.)

I believe Senator Inhofe.

I'm sick to death of the condescending view the liberal moonbats have of the average person.

Talk Radio is for the people to express their feelings, concerns and viewpoints on the issues of the day.

What's up with the liberal moonbats? Are they communists who want to squash us like bugs.

If it's possible I think ALL the liberal moonbat senators and congresspersons should be dispensed with post haste.

I don't need my news delivered to me with some liberal's opionion (e.g. Williams, Couric) thrown in for bad measure.

I like the who, what, where, how, and why in my news. I will decide on my own what is or isn't relevant.

the thing is there is fair and balanced out there. Their problem is they don’t have anyone who is good or knows what they are talking about to have a show. Their other problem is it proves their own side doesn’t even want to listen to them. If they are so good how come they can’t keep a lib on a radio show? How come their listening audience doesn’t just overflow with BELIEVERS.

They have no substance. They have nothing. Therefore, they KNOW talk radio is the voice of the people and they dont’ like it. Haven’t been able to stop it for years and years and now that the lid is off the can of the shenigans they have pulled over the years (including pubbies too) and all theri back door deals at our expense...they can’t stand it. We KNOW the truth. I would tell them the old line about the truth setting us free. They want to go backwards and stifle our voices. All I can say is it aint gonna happen. This country has shed too much blood and come too far for us to sit back and take that.

Ah, another person that thinks the “Fairness Doctrine” would remotely be applied “fairly”. Or perhaps you don’t.

You know, I know, everyone knows that this would only be applied as a one way ratchet - to the left.

Don’t you have to have someone, such as a government bureaucrat, decide what is “objective” in, say, news programs? And what, do you suppose, would such a bureaucrat decide about blatantly leftist newscasting like we see today on the MSM?

Leftist ideas never can stand up in the arena of ideas because they are antithetical to the human condition.

This is why they have to get rid of said arena, so they won’t have anyone speaking up to oppose them.

Just think about it, even with 90% of the information outlets spewing leftwing crap, they still only get half the votes in this country.

I am not sure why you think that. I clearly referred to it in my post as the "unFairness" doctrine primarily for the reasons you state.

I did give you the benefit of the doubt.

My point is that people think that we could apply the “Fairness” doctrine to left wing media outlets like they would apply them to the real targets, ie, Limbaugh. “Yeah, we’ll show them when they have to have a conservative viewpoint on NPR.”

What I’m saying is that it’s a cute theory, but would never happen in reality. Those who decide what is “fair” will never apply their power to leftwing media.

Well, it is all about POWER AND CONTROL. The big problem that the socialists have, is that the vast majority of thinking Americans want nothing to do with them, and last but not least, do NOT WANT TO HEAR FROM THEM. Their pathetic, never ending attempts at TALK RADIO are always failures -— and since they CANNOT COMPETE IN THE ARENA OF IDEAS (because they are just socialists and do not really care about America)they have to turn to FORCE from legislation to install their socialist agenda on the America public.

This is their latest effort to silence the truth about them. Talk radio has done an excellent job of showing these criminal traitors for what they are — and the libs do not like it. And since they are totally bankrupt in the arena of ideas for America, they cannot debate, ONLY CONTROL. Hence, this pursuit to bypass the Constitution (and it is coming in spades) and place into effect, legislation that would silence their opposition.

McCain-Feingold was the first step in negating the right to FREE SPEECH. The second liberty the political class stomped on was our Fifth Amendment right to property ownership by ruling, and setting a horrid precedent, that governments can take away personal property from people — heretofore protected by the Fifth Amendment. This travesty of a SCOTUS decision has yet to be overturnied.

No, they are going to try and take away (and instill in the government) every right and liberty we have as long as we let them get away with it. Washington, as a whole, is OUT OF CONTROL and needs to be repaired, QUICKLY.

As the old saying goes, "the Devil is in the details"

The left may very well pass some form of this absurd policy, in hopes of dealing a crushing blow to the conservatism. However, what they are hoping for will not produce the results they seek, for several reasons.

The real question is how do we defeat it w/o control of Congress?

The veto is certainly available now. I would rather see us add amendments that make it unpalatable to pass. One would be, as I suggested, make it apply to TV. That would be a monitoring nightmare and very expensive for the TV stations.

I believe it was Jefferson who said the people will usually endure a great deal of oppression before they finally rise up. It hasn’t happened yet, but I think the tipping point will come some time during the next Clinton regime. Esconced in power with a majority in both Houses, a reckless Ahab and Jezebel will certainly overreach their will to power.

Some of us here, including myself, took to the streets when Al Gore tried to hijack the 2000 election. I walked down the Embarcadero in SF with other conservatives, chanting "Get out of Bush's house."

In fact, that's where I first heard about Free Republic.

The clenched fist or the raised arm are typical poses taken by all tyrants. Since they cannot persuade by reason, they must browbeat with clenched fists and appeal to emotion, envy, and prejudice.

I dunno. We have allowed the government to steal our money, murder babies wholesale, seize our property, lock up innocent citizens, persecute dissenters, gut the covenant it made with its citizens guaranteeing liberty, destroy local autonomy, destroy the reputations of its citizens, etc., etc. So far, the people have been relatively docile about these abuses. Since we have allowed them to abuse us in the first place, government stooges figure they can just keep on abusing us. When we finally stand up to them en masse, they will back down, but at a price. The tree of liberty always withers when the people are not willing to water it with their own blood, sweat, and tears.

Amen. It has to reach that point and I think it will if this keeps up. People can only take so much.

Glad you see it as I do. Gore was famous for it. Dean was maniacle with it. But it’s worse when the women resort to it. They must have such hatred and poison inside them. Bitter, bitter, bitter pathetic people who must have power in order to even breathe.
