Then sue the anti-gunner doctor for malpractice.

You can't do that, at least not in Texas. I'm a malpractice attorney.

You used to be able to sue for things like that before tort reform. Tort reform would now cost anyone who tried to sue for a thing like that between $50,000 and $100,000. Now doctors are pretty much immune to all manner of evil deeds.

I’ve about decided to live and die without medical help. The doctors I had last time I was in the hospital all looked capable of flying an airliner into a skyscraper, couldn’t understand me, or I them.
It worries me that we have people on THIS forum, of all places, with little knowledge of what is at stake with the RKBA issue, and no concern at all, they just don’t care.

True. However I will blame the government making it so difficult to even see a gun much less use one. Every generation has less useage of a gun so the right doesn’t seem so necessary and does not bother them if they lose it. I really believe that this has a lot to do with it.

Assuming one lost. But in a place like Austin the sob sisters could be found.

“The National Rifle Association has endorsed the plan as a way to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally unstable”.

Problem is, it won’t work, and the libs know it won’t work, next will come a demand for a bit more legislation, and that won’t work either, it just goes on and on.
Why give an inch, it is always a loss?

“Could that be extended to dentists?”

What about therapists?

School counselors?

Social workers?

Dormitory / resident assistants?

Teachers? Principals?

This may be true where you live, it’s not the way kids are raised around here.
Don’t get me started on the bad effects that urbanization has on many things. Haven’t you noticed how disgusted some of us get with “city slickers”? I’m saying this in a friendly way, train your kids to cherish freedom, or train your grandkids to live in chains.

“The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way vivid stories of gun crime routinely do. But few saw the Third Reich coming until it was too late. The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed—where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once”.
Judge Alex Kozinsky

Gun Owners of America is one of only a few organizations alerting consumers to the implications.

“Under this bill, based solely on a diagnosis of a psychiatrist, an American’s name could be dumped into the National Criminal Instant Check (NICS) system,” said GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt, who called the plan “conviction by diagnosis.”

No, not assuming you lost. You will get thrown out of court and have to pay the very heavily padded defense costs. You will never get near a jury. Even if the judge refused to bounce you out of court, the defense will appeal and they will win.

One of my guilty pleasures is explaining to a previous booster of tort reform how they don't have a case for the very serious wrong that was done to them.

I can’t speak about anything but Texas, but lots of other states have their own versions of tort reform.

You sound like you are (1) reading it backwards; (2) generalizing from Texas to the whole USA.

Reading what backwards? I only talk about Texas because that is all that I know about based on 30 years experience. I generally leave it up to other people to talk about other state’s laws (unless I have the time and inclination to read up on them).

You are treating the case where a doctor is sued for wrongfully causing a patient to be banned from using a gun, as the same as a case where a doctor is sued for wrongfully NOT banning a patient from using a gun. You gave me examples of the former. But the LATTER is the death trap for 2nd Amendment rights. All it takes is a session of legislature for your pendulum to swing back even in your own home state, by the way.
