Ready to read about an example of the American dream, and the American reality? Look no further than the June 17 front page of The Washington Post. Mia Hall just moved into her dream house, a five-bedroom Colonial in Southern Maryland featuring a gourmet kitchen with a center island and a double oven, twin fireplaces and a finished basement, as well as a whirlpool tub and dual shower heads in the master bathroom. Sounds perfect.

Who is Mia Hall??
Nobody special. This is just a journalistic trick to suck you into the story with a personal touch rather than supply facts and news. In fact, these stories that start like "Donald Duck thought it would just be another working day" or whatever, almost never contain news and are just filler. I avoid them like the plague.
“Who Is Mia Hall?”
There is a writer, “Melissa Mia Hall”, has her own website.
(Writer for News Journals.)
Thanks....great tagline!
I’m having trouble with townhall.com and Safari. With Safari (but not Firefox) on Mac 10.4.9, none of the links that should take me to the second page of the article function. Is anyone else having this problem?
The American dream was never about a big house, fast car and flashy clothes. It was about religious freedom and self government and a classless society.
The American people are worried and unhappy because we’ve killed 50 million babies, our daughters dress and act like hookers, our sons are falling in love with each other, big government is counting every breath we take, and there is an invasion from the south.
Dual shower heads! She must wake up each morning and pinch herself!
Hey, if I want to shower with someone, I want to shower ‘together’, if you know what I mean. Don’t need two shower heads for that!
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
What's funny is that many of the more exclusive housing subdivisions have large mailbox complexes, where residents stop and get their mail on their way in. The situation certainly isn't indicative of 'lower quality' housing.
all it tells you is government unionized workers are undermining our progress
“Hey, if I want to shower with someone, I want to shower together, if you know what I mean. Dont need two shower heads for that!”
I’m not certain, but I *think* the dual shower heads are for the purpose of having the water jet at you from two directions, thereby providing a nice therapeutic effect and making for a quicker shower when time is short.
I’ve never been in one, but it sounds heavenly.
If someone needs that much water, take a bath. And invite a friend.
Hah!
“But the Hall family isnt completely happy. You see, they share a mailbox with neighbors. When I walk down there, I think, Jeez, this is a long walk. It would complete our home if we had a nice mailbox out front that has our number, our name on it, Mia Hall, a 37-year-old government employee, told the paper. The story also notes that the Halls neighbors are building a $618,000 home next door, and are also unhappy with the communal mailboxes.”
This story makes no sense. If you can afford a $618,000 house, you can afford to go to Home Depot and buy a frickin’ mailbox kit.
I daresay homes in Colonial Maryland didn't have whirlpool tubs...or home mail delivery either.
I was once looking at a newspaper on microfilm from the 1820s from a very rural part of Virginia. Someone had written a complaint that the only was to get their mail in their county was to make a trip to the court house, which might be 20 or 30 miles away...by horse and buggy over dirt roads. Letters sometimes sat there for months before the recipient managed to get to the court house. Definitely, Mia Hall has it rough.
Two shower heads really improve the experience. Nothing less erotic than freezing and shivering while your paramour hogs the spray and luxuriates under the hot water.
Safari 3 and/or Mac 10.4.10 have fixed the problem with TownHall.com.
