i love my little Browning/Beretta 14-shot PocketRocket...
Shift to the M96 and lethality will not be an issue.
It's be DA with de-kock and most likely the H&K or Sig. Hopefully it won't be S&W.
Beretta makes a d e c e n t .45, but it's not match for the HK.
Bookmarked - Thanks
Department of Veterans Affairs had a 2000 weapon contract with Beretta. Beretta recently notified DVA that they will not renew this contract. Seems curious that they would walk away from any Fed contract.
+1, Though I’d be really surprised if their isn’t some form of manual safety on it. I’d think HK would be the natural choice here but the Gov. might think they are too pricy. S&W might get it, they just came out with a version of their .45 M&P pistol that has a manual safety like that of a 1911. While I overall prefer Glock myself many people like the M&P pistoles. S&W has had one heck of a turnaround since they were re-bought by an American firm. They’ve moved into, AR style rifles and shotguns and their stock has gone gangbusters ever since.
Supposedly many troops in the ME had problems with them jamming due to bad mags from a supplier, new mags fixed the issue. The Beretta is a very good gun for a 9mm but politics had a lot to do with the contract decision. The Sig P226 faired just as well but General Dynamics was looking to sell some F16’s to Italy at the same time and their was talk that Beretta getting the pistol contract helped smooth the F16 deal and both sides were happy. I’d take the Sig myself.

there is a new H&K 45 auto in the pipeline. It was designed in the tradition of the 1911, but can also be carried condition one.
I know one person who beta tested it, and cannot say enough good things about it.
This is not the USP I am talking about, by the way.
As for the Beretta, its a decent gun, but way to big for CCW, at least in my opinion. Rather have my Glock.
The military has put the .45 contract on permanent hiatus!
The SIG and the M&P were the top contenders (probably would have been the M&P).
