It was a big plastics manufacturing plant, or something like that. The 91/60/215 interchange was closed down. No one moving. And, they were all sitting in their cars, with the BLACK smoke surrounding them.
I can’t find anything online but I’ve been hearing about it on KFI.
Yeah...long, hot summer...for sure.
they had a big rig fire on I10 near Indio and then this..

A 1-acre fire in the yard of a Riverside plastic recycling company sent a giant plume of black smoke into the air Tuesday night that could be seen for miles and prompted the California Highway Patrol to close a major Inland freeway interchange during rush hour.
Flames broke out about 4:40 p.m. at Unlimited Plastics Inc. in the 2600 block of Durahart Street and spread to wooden pallets, stacks of cardboard boxes, and plastic piles, authorities said. Thick, black smoke billowed up and blew over Interstate 215, and could be seen as far south as Perris and as far north as San Bernardino.
There were no reports of injuries or evacuations. The cause was unknown.
Try that link above, it has some pics,, nasty dense black smoke from that fire..
They sure saved of lot of forest land didn't they. A$$holes.
That’s the one...my GOSH look at that black smoke. “Try not to breathe the smoke” the article says....
Um.
Don’t ask. They are all-knowing. /s
Don't hold your breath waiting for the explanation.
Is it vulnerable because of logging? Hell, no. In fact, the few old logging roads that are left are some of the only ways fire ground crews can get to the more remote areas. Has development contributed? Maybe. No houses built = no houses burned. But far and away the biggest factor is the lack of even two brain cells' worth of common-sense attention to the forests. Not keeping them free of underbrush fuel is like never combing your hair, and TRPA -- the thoroughly corrupt and criminally irresponsible Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, known in these parts as the Tahoe Reichstag Property Abolishers, a.k.a. the Architecture Nazis, who used to fine people fifty thousand bucks for trimming back so much as ONE of their own trees -- was the first to confiscate the combs.
We lived on the Nevada side of the north shore for 7 years, the last 5 with bug-out bags packed and the NOAA WX on 24/7 from April through October. The local libward political tilt got steeper and steeper with the influx of ignorant and/or bloody-minded greenies from the adjacent state until finally, 18 months ago, we said fuggit and decamped to a slightly lower elevation outside the basin. No regrets at all, and profound gratitude that we can now sleep straight through the summer nights.
And by the way, Harry Reid, p*ss be upon him, doesn't represent us, either. After yesterday's vote, neither does John Ensign.

The Gubinor was in the area today.

He looks so idiotic. What a tool. “ How many reps do you think I can do” as he stands in the ashes of someones home.
Reid has always been a turd but John Ensign's vote took me by surprise. Who bought him off?
“as he stands in the ashes of someones home.”
I thought the same thing. Shameful. That is probably the most disgusting picture he ever posed for.
Good shot. What the hell is he smiling about? Too many steroids I guess.
that makes me feel real good that I turned them down for donation and membership because I believe they are nothing but a liberal cause group.
Yes, Yes, Yes, the Sierra Club is responsible for much of the fire damage in the Western States. They have fought every attempt to clean and thin the forests. This organization was taken over by radical lawyers years ago. They are the biggest fraud organization I know of.
Sadly the average person simply does not know this and they think this organization does good things for the environment. The average person simple doesn’t know what is going on and they are not going to find out from the mainstream media. The media covers the fires but never seems to do a good analysis of why these fires are so bad. Please if any of you out there know about this situation tell your friends not to join or donate to this horrible organization.
I’m still waiting for someone to write the definitive book on what a destructive organization the Sierra Club is. You can say the same for the Natural Resources Defense Council. They are just as bad but not as well known.
